To do so means the media would have to report all the facts and that wouldn't suit their agenda.

Should be a criminal offence to print half truths/ one side of the story, as if its truth, for public consumption.

Must have loved the commentary tonight Bondi. StKilda have been really impacted by injury apparently. We are just disappointing.

We can finish as high as 7th if all other results fall our way.

Almost every season all other results “fall our way” and it’s our bit that doesn’t get done.

West coast is getting a percentage lowering hiding by collingwood.
West coast will likely be stuck on 40 pts with games against melb, bris., and freo to come.
In that scenario carlton needs 2 wins and a close loss minimum to make the 8. Other than us on 32pts, only the tigers have a relitively easy last few rounds. The ball is in our side of the court again at least

Yes feeling dirty but barracking for the Carringbush
Unfortunately WC getting a few goals
Really weak against WC at Sydney Cricket Ground a few Sundays ago another one that we didn’t turn up to
Once again an indictment on players and coach
A greater effort against north and WC we would be easily be in the 8
No wonder we are having a review

100%

These are the two losses that hurt ... and are why we won't make finals

All teams have stinkers even top four teams. Difference between them and us is health of their list and cohesion between players - perfectly normal to have 2-3 more stinkers than them. Not indictment to either players or coach.

Doesn't mean we are not improving - last two years has been nothing but an upward trajectory.

We need some luck and keep our best players on the park and hopefully add a couple of quality additions to really push on next season.

I am 100% confident we will keep improving.

we are improving.

CK95 made a good point how the omission of slow players Setterfield, SPS and Gibbons have helped. All of them are corallers not tacklers. Setterfield was a tackler but he has become the former too.

Just did a comparison between 20 and 21 after 17 rounds, and the improvement is debatable.

Year / Wins / Losses / Percentage / Score For / Score Against
2020/ 7 / 10 / 93.7 / 1017 / 1078
2021/ 7 / 10 / 93.9 / 1289 / 1408

We've improved our scoring by 16 pts per game
We've gone backwards with defence by 20 pts per game

Suggests we need Lyon to shore up our defense...just kidding

Yes it would be an indictment Walsh given we haven’t turned up in 5 games this year
Win 3 out of the 5 turn up with intensity in 3 of the 5 including against the 18 th team and the Carringbush early let alone the garbage served up against WC GWS we are securely in the 8 and performing like we should with the team we have
Be careful Walsh most people have been very tolerant of your continuous posting and agenda driven posts we are pretty understanding here of alternative views but continuing trying to bait posters and attack them win invective might mean you are close to a holiday from here

Results keep going our way. The scum losing to GWS and now Sydney, Sydney beating Freo last week, Freo beating Richmond last week, Collingwood beating WC. Just need Port to hold off GWS.

Such a shame we didn't turn up last week. If we'd won that dare I say we'd be in the... box seat. Probably have to win all 3 games to make it now, which I can't see happening

Quote:
It’s back on, Blues fans.

Cancel those September plans you made a week ago — at least for now.

Results in Round 20 have thrown the door open to an unlikely Carlton finals appearance for the first time in eight years.

That would force a rewrite of the Blues’ internal review and throw a spanner in any plans to replace David Teague with Alastair Clarkson next season.

So what do Teague and his players need to do to steal a top-eight spot?

Firstly, they need to win their three remaining games, and one won’t be easy.

And they need other clubs around them to stumble, but based on the fixture that isn’t going to require any absurd upsets.

Quote:
Carlton aso needs to overhaul West Coast on percentage – it is currently 1.8 per cent down, but three more wins and a couple of Eagles losses (see below) should bridge the gap, barring any freakish blowouts.

Quote:
Note: If Carlton loses to Port Adelaide it can still make it, but things get very complicated.

Richmond or West Coast would have to lose games they are expected to win and/or the Blues need to get ahead of Essendon* on percentage – or barrack for Collingwood to knock off the Bombers in Round 23.

Give us the Cup now.

Make Cripps a Premiership captain winning next 7 games in a row.
Then let Weiters have his turn before Wasky has his.

That we’ll likely still miss out despite all of these things going our way makes our gimme losses all the more galling.

Imagine we get to the final game needing a win to make finals, and a club veteran sits on 299 games, battling for fitness and undeserving of a place in the team on merit. The coach is coaching for survival. Decisions, decisions.

Thankfully it won't come to that embarassing predicament. Port will put us out of contention in a fortnight.
