Collingwood looking vulnerable in the eight.
We need to beat them as one of four wins from our remaining six games.

Suns on 4 day break
Pies - injured and not going well
GWS - def beatable
Swans - beatable but always have a crack
Crows - haven’t won a game
Lions - tough but beat them last time

It’s not a tough draw if we are good enough

I still reckon a team will need ten wins to play finals. The round 18 against game the Lions is the only one of the remaining games where I don't like our chances, BUT it would still be a very tough ask to win the other five given our inconsistency.

GWS game could decide it because they look like the main threat for 8th if Collingwood slide.
Melbourne have a good run in.
Saints have a tough run and might only just make it.

StKilda is the team that we should be looking at replacing in the 8.
Apart from Hawthorn, they now play the top sides.
If Essendon* can beat them, who will not make the 8 with their run home as well, then we have a real chance.

No point worrying about what the other teams do or don’t do. We just need to keep winning, otherwise it’s game over!

One week at a time.

Marchbank and Dow back from injury and playing well.

Martin, McGovern Cuningham back from injury.

TDK goes OK developing till Pitto ready to ruck n roll again.

All happening just before our compressed fixture starts.

Finals a possibility. This will create real desire for spots in the 22.

Its coming together nicely even if we didn't expect to play finals, it is a real possibility.

It all starts against the Suns and we have that longer break to help us in the last quarter in that game.

One game at a time. Just keep winning the game in front of us every week, and we do not need to rely on other results.

...and we can. The players believe.

That's the ticket DLC.

I think we can drop one and make it, maybe 2.

I think the tough game for us, and one we should be looking for revenge after last years capitulation/ embarrassing loss is against GWS.

I believe the other games are all winnable on current form.

I’m happy with 8-10 wins, finals or not. That’s what I tipped over 22 rounds, so it would be a great season if we achieve it in 17.

Next year we launch into finals, we’ll be ready then.

Agree, raising expectations only brings about stupid rants when we drop a game.
Bring on next season! Particularly after a short pre season!

And 'bring on next season' assumes the growth and improvement naturally comes...think Melb 2019

Keep the bar high at all times, but literally take it one game at a time

Simple message this week...Just f$%^& beat GC

Having only 7 weeks to go and thinking we are realistically in with a shot in everyone of them is the improvement I needed. I look forward to every game now as opposed to the last few years.

It’s good to have a bit of passion for the game again. I too look forward to each game, wasn’t the case over the past few years. With comes the extra disappointment because we now expect to win and do well.

I want to win every week, if we don't I'm not going to revert to moaning about how crap we are.

If we lose this week just jump on here at your own risk.

I love that we are able to discuss this and should really have at least 1 more W than we do.

This is another reason why we should pick the best team possible and not gift games to kids to give them experience.

Maintain the balance between old and young.

Too right Bondi, and Teague does too. In his post-game presser I actually thought Teague was paying more than lip-service to that age-old journo question "can you play finals?". When he answered he actually sounded believable, said it with real conviction, as though he actually meant it. I found it refreshing in contrast to how most coaches usually side-step, avoid completely or answer in a non-committal and meaningless way. Take a look from 4:19 to 4:35 in his presser on the AFL site.

All this talk of finals.
We have a problem winning two in a row and have scraped in to every win apart from one.

Sam McLure in The Age predicts carlton will make the final 8 and pip out GWS by percentage.

He is right. Book mar it.
