I try to. Optus all the way at home. Dan Murphy for grog, Nike for runners.
I was that close to buying a Subaru last year but the prospect of haveing to service it at Docklands since they closed the Essendon* dealer was the clicher that made me buy a Honda. But I convinced my friend to upgrade his Subaru to a new liberty before his lease finished if that counts

I changed my mobile phone contract to Optus when it came up for renewal, even though their call costs are generally worse, their billing is prehistoric and their data charges make Telstra look genuine.....

I understand the sentiment of wanting to support the sponsors fully - I just wish there were better ways of letting them know why you are supporting them.

I mentioned at work the other day that I (used to  ) have all my telco services with Optus only because they sponsored Carlton, and everyone laughed like it was an absurd notion.

And these were marketing people.... not understanding the significance of tapping into people's emotional links :?

Is this uncommon behaviour for you guys? when 2 products seem identical you go with the one that sponsors the Blues?

Sponsorship is a vital part of Carlton's survival in my books - so i think what you did is spot on and i have done the same.

The best thing to do, though, is to write into optus and let them know why you swapped over. I told my technican when he was transferring us over to optus (they say it only takes 10 minutes to swap over ... but the guy is there for about 3 hours in actual fact) and he looked at me as if i was speaking swazispeak. It didn't mean anything to him - i was just another job. But if you let the marketing people know - then it gets through to the right people.

Does this mean the only alcohol we can get is a Fosters from Dan Murphy's?

My mobile phone account has been with Optus since they came on board. I considered changing to 3 a couple of years ago when they had a pretty good cap plan available but could not bring myself to help those who help the dons. Bertocchi oil is in the pantry and Nike's in the hallway.

Its an interesting issue for marketers. One of my Carlton mates bought a Lexus a couple of years ago and has heard no end of it from the rest of us, and as this thread demonstrates, sometimes people avoid organisation that sponsors a rival club.

I favour the companys in my share portfolio and am not really interested in the companys that sponsor Carlton to be honest.

I will, however, never own a Lexus or fly Emirates.

Speaking of sponsorship, I see that Collingwood have Carlton Zero as a sponsor.

Interesting to see the word Carlton on Buckley's polo...but perhaps they like the word 'zero' associated with Carlton?

YES

I use to drink beers Crownies, VB's, Melbourne Bitter and Carlton Draft from CUB when they were a sponsor.

Went to Malaysia the year the Spirit of Malaysia sponsored us.

Will buy a Hyundai for my son when he gets his license. I didn't in '95 coz Hyundai wasn't a very good car back then. Plus had a Company Car.

Allowed my kids to eat Mars Bars as the only junk food allowed on match days only.

No M & M's

Bought a Toshiba laptop

Dan Murphy's became my go to bottle shop back in the day, now I sponsor independents

Didn't need a loan, so no AVCO for me

Became an Optus Dealer, then an Optus Product Manager and still have Optus, but not for much longer

Fly Virgin ... not sure what is going on there

Have shopped at Cotton On for my boys

Adidas, Nike, now Puma is what my youngest wears

there has to be more....I think I bought the Carlton Club song from Allan's; they had something to do with us too.

Yes, I guess I'm the loyal type.

Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours, if its of good value
