Collingwood looked pleased with themselves in the rooms after their win tonight over the Kangaroos.
All the better next week when we knock them off!
They were better in the second half... Pendles and Sidebottom were clean...
One is taken care of for us... The other we need to stop having an influence.....
If they play Cox, we have an instant 'running defender'..
We just have to win this

Ther top end is ecellent, Pendles, Adams, Moore, Maynard, Grundy, but their bottom 6 is rubbish (Greenwood, Cox, Madgen, Rusco, Appleby, Cameron). If we get 22 contributors we win.

Biggest game for us in the last 5 years and in past years you know what would result -not turning up essentially
However seen greater resolve from this group recently and hope we get a performance like against cats not like against hawks and saints
Need to start well but also get scoreboard pressure on and take our opportunities 7-18 won’t do it
Need a lift in midfield

Actually, 7.18 might do it. They’re not scoring much.

Ed Curnow surely runs with Pendles?

Should expect umpires to be watching closely.

Adams and Maynard need to be sat on also.

I'm rarely confident, but feel very confident this week.

Massive game. If this was played in non-COVID times I reckon we’re looking at close to 90,000 in attendance at the MCG.

Tag Pendlebury with Sidebottom out. His class, decision making and disposal set them up and if we can limit that we go a long way to winning the midfield battle.

Play the best 22 after a 9 day break. Start resting (if need be) once the breaks decrease to 4-5 days after this game.

Would like to see Cunners return to add some polish around goals. If we get the chances, we must capitalise to kick them out of the game. A better team last week may have made it very awkward for us late in the game. We need to put the foot down if/when we have the opportunity to.

Compared to last time (using last week's side):

Carlton

OUT: Charlie, Kreuzer, McGovern, Jack, Stocker, Thomas..... Cunningham, Dow, Marchbank
IN: Betts, Cottrell, De Koning, Docherty, Jones, Martin, Newnes, Pittonet, Simpson

Collingwood

OUT: Brown, De Goey, Howe, Langdon, Sidebottom, Stephenson, Treloar, Reid, Wills..... Mihocek
IN: Adams, Appleby, Cameron, Cox, Daicos, Madgen, Noble, Ruscoe, Varcoe..... ??

Could make a pretty good argument that we come out in front on the +/- there. Both sides lose eight goals off their score.

The other major 'out' for us compared to last year is, of course, the last four minutes of every quarter....

If we win and the Dogs and Dees lose we are not only in the 8 but have a game in hand on the Dogs and Pies, who haven't had their bye yet. Because of the latter finals are actually in our own hands. Keep winning and we are in.

5 tackles and 2 or 3 cheapies out the back will keep detractors away for at least another week.

North had 65% of their possession in defensive half .Pies locked them in and Moore looked like Jeremy McGovern mk2. Harry and Levi need to make him accountable they can't allow him to peel off.
I would like to see Kennedy play as he can take overhead mark and is another option down the line. TDK is a bonus here.
Pies probably still play press more than anyone. It limits their ability to score but also restricts opposition.
If we play the dinky kick game we played against GC they will lock us in and force turnover.
Need to run and break lines GWS style this week and Pies won't have an answer

Not as confident as most but think we are big chance.
Need to kick straight as shots on goal will be like gold

I think Dow has to come in. 12 clearances in the ressies. But he has to play midfield.
Murphy to the wing, Cottrell out of the side and Dow into the midfield rotation. By all means rotate Murphy and Walsh through there as well but we need leg speed in the middle. At the moment, I think Newnes has taken Cuninghams role. He was clean as a whistle with his ground balls on Friday and he set up a number of goals with his hands. Half forward is his to lose at the moment IMHO. With players like Elliot in the midfield, we need some wheels in there as well and Dow deserves the chance with 2 BOG's out of the past 3 reserves games.

I'm looking forward to being there too.

Please, stick those tackles!
