TANK
How about you have a go at explaining how that will make us better!!! FFS, this is ridiculous!!! Jesus Christ himself couldnt fix this train wreck!!!!
It's pretty simple DW. There are two vital aspects to being successful, having players with talent, and having a coaching staff that can get the best out of them.
At the moment, we are struggling with the first, and dead and buried with the second.
Blind Freddy could tell you that Pagan is gone, it's just a question of when.
In terms of talent, as some on here are pointing out, we have an opportunity to get new talented players in.
We will get one early pick, losing the rest will give us another.
And to show you how important really early picks are, look at Murphy, and how good he is, EVEN unde the current inept coaching regime. If they'd ever bother to put Gibbs into the midfield, we'd see the same.
Yet Kennedy, Russell, Hartlett etc still struggle. Now, I hope that they make it, and trust that they will (especially with a different coaching panel and more development coaches), but it shows the difference between picks 1/2, and later picks. No guarantee, of course, but much better odds of getting very good players. And we need as many very god players as we can, because right now, we don't have alot.
I don't believe for a minute that players tank. Coaches can coach and select in a way that makes it difficult to win. Today was interesting...some of things that went on, constant rotation of players off the bench while Melbourne had the ball (Melbourne did most of their rotations after a goal), taking 3 and a half quarters to wake up to the fact that Bizzell was loose in the backline at center bounces (because Setanta was in the ruck and then meandered forward) and needed manning up at centre bounces (after he had taken his 14th mark) smacked of one of two things...
Either they are already tanking (not possible, IMHO, cause Pagan knows that losing means he's out), or that coaching panel is worse than any of us had dare to imagine.
AFAIC, the worst possible outcome for this club is to win 5 games, even 6. If we were to win 7 or 8, then that means 3-4 wins out of the last 8, good form, condifence, and something to take into next season. I can happily live with that.
Winning 1 or 2 more games is a disaster. No change from where we are now, no real onfield benefit, lose the PP.
Give me 4 wins (and PP), or 7+ wins, but PLEASE let us not finish the season on 5 or 6.
