Ok. I’m gonna say it. I’m gonna go there. Here we go.

It was a clear mark to Bolt who used his forearms to hold his position as Gawn came back on him. He never extended. Never pushed. We would have been back deep into 50 and they wouldn’t have scored.

There. I said it.

It was the second time those morons fell for Gawn taking a dive but still none of that would matter if we didn't give up such huge leads every single week.

When all signs pointed to us running over them and winning, who actually thought we would?

I didn’t. Just knew we would find a way to lose.

Docherty was great but he and Walsh when we needed poise to win the game didn’t show any

We have enough players just going our better ones MUST impose themselves to win games

Another bottom 4 finish and another 3-0 start to another season

2 Key words there Frank "Poise" and "Impose" ..... We concentrate on that and we'll win more than we lose

2020 looks like being a long "short" season

Of course it was going to happen - we lack polish. Missed easy goals in the last quarter, McGovern dropping some crucial marks, McKay giving away silly frees and general bad use of the ball. It was always on the cards that Melbourne were going to win even with us surging.
Just disappointing but not surprising

We have lacked class and composure for so long. Should have won that game easily.

This is also not to mention the inexcusable start. Could of won fairly comfortably even allowing for our mistakes.

The team is below average in ability
Simple as that
As I said many times the trading out of 5 players and picks for Setterfield and Mc Govern was ridiculous particularly given the team’s performance in 2018 was dumb list management
Both have been ordinary
Throw in Kennedy O’Brien and Dow who were recruited around this time.
How Lang gets a game who was also recruited around this time
ahead of half a dozen others is mind boggling

What to do in 2020
Play as many players as possible. I want to see Philip Honey Ramsay get some games. I want to see Teague show some balls and drop blokes who play ordinary
Start with SPS and Cuningham
Both are soft and were crap today
SPS I think has never been dropped he has had a charmed ride
How Cuningham got a 3 year contract is mysterious
His output has been ordinary he lacks mongrel l

Play guys in different positions
Play McKay up the ground
Martin in the middle
Try different things
What’s there to lose other than finding something

Look to the future without sentiment
Give a youngster some time and drop Simmo
Bring him back the last couple of games. He deserves that

Bringing Betts back to the club makes no sense in terms of playing
He is stopping a youngsters development
He looks past it to me. He was on the way out last year

Keep playing Murphy unless his form drops off but if he want to play on 2021 say no

Murphy in ineffectual at best. He runs around at half pace corralling opponents from a lazy distance that just gives them heaps of time and space to make a decision and their disposal. If he accidentally gets too close to an opposition he just throws one arm out for them to run through.

4 clearances and 5 goal assists indicates he does more than I give him credit for. I’ve very glass half empty with him. I’m probably a poor judge as I think Plowman is terrible but he always polls well in our B&F.

Hate to say it....but that post is spot on

The return of Eddie was so romantic and I was all for it.....but he is not the Eduardo we know. We should play the Dows and LOBs and kids and Stocker to find out if they can play. Zero to lose. McGovern should be dropped and told he will not be played unless he can kick a bag in the 2s.....he is so disappointing, injury prone, soft, one dimensional, you name it. SPS was terrible tonight but he showed something late last year and was good in round 1 so give him a rocket but another chance.

Sadly just more of the same we've been dished up for a long time. Bolts may be sitting back with a sly grin tonite.

That was action replay of round 1 against the Tigers and about numerous other games over the last few years (probably more).

The team was not switched on at the start and inevitably that type of lapse gave up the usual 4 goal plus deficit. Then we have periods of the comeback where they show they can play OK footy. But inevitably, fail to nail clutch generally easy goals to stamp some momentum on the game and win.

Its groundhog day at its worse, and I've had a gutful of it.

God help us if we dish up the same against Geelong.....

Unfortunately, it’s in our DNA to lose. It’s acceptable and the players don’t know how to win, don’t believe they can and don’t want it enough either.

Ps. Leaders kick those goals when they matter.

Unfortunately your post script is spot on. Crippa got 1 but all 3 were crucial straight forward goals that needed to be kicked. It makes me sick to say it, but Selwood kicks those

We’re clearly capable of winning games. Have given up big starts but still been in positions to win. We’re capable. To some degree, that’s growth. We need to start winning some of them now.

As an aside, this team has a unique ability to turn a good week into a shit one; to ruin your mood. It’s my fault for being as invested as I am, but barracking for Carlton is a test of character at times.

I would be bringing in young onballers regardless.Need kids who can get a kick.Out of left field i would give that kid Ramsey a go.Genuine onballer who can wrack 'em up.And any other on our list who can accumulate..............too many dinky players who doe nice things but not often enough.Goin' nowhere with teasers.

We looked pretty good once we dusted off the rust and got into the game. Dominated but a shame we couldn't get it on the board. Bad goal kicking cost us a comfortable win.
We have a bit to work with for the rest of the carnival. Iron out the slow starts and train mental focus. Would love to see some youthful dash in the 22 each week. Nothing to lose.

If someone had told me in March that we’d win 5 out of our first 8 quarters, I’d have taken that but......

We did manage to win games in the 2nd half of last year after poor starts but the same poor starts cost us against Melbourne and the Dogs too, where we lost both by 3pts. Even against Richmond last year we were down 6 goals to nil and were within 16pts very late. Melbourne and Richmond games were de javu from last year. Enough now of poor starts and comebacks, no praising them for a long time as we see it too often.
