No changes this week.

I know a few are calling for Harry’s head (and I’m still unconvinced about him too), but I think the MC will look to stabilise our forward line. The theory being that the more often Harry, McGovern & Levi play together, the more cohesive they will become.

It won’t hurt TDK to give him a block of reserves scratch matches playing in the ruck.

Unfortunately, the reserves match this week might be a 10 per side game.

Yeah I'm on the no change theory as well, unless someone's injured.

There's one or two who would need to improve in some areas next week though.

Yeah we really have to leave Harry with the forward line functioning so well. It's not just the touches he gets but there as obviously some real synergy and understanding happening in the forward line. So much space. if it ain't broke...

Also, with Essendon*'s backline decimated we can really stretch them with height. Might be a good chance for H to have a day out and build some confidence

This.

I thought Harry was OK. He's young and makes some bad decisions but he still presents and marks. It's kick kicking for goal that needs work.

And we lost to them the week after they found out they will miss the finals.

He has no excuses.
Poor second efforts.
Poor kicking.
Drops a lot of marks

Over at the bombers board - they are still pretty confident. They had a number of players coming in anyway and believe their midfield is superior provided Cripps is held. The bomber fans believe they have the coverage - can throw some players into the backline and combined with some returning from injury they think they have it sorted. They rate their forwards over our backs and they still have some good names in their team.

Let's thrash them.

Even when we've struggled we've often troubled Essendon* lately. One of the few sides we beat in 2018. We beat then in 2017 and they only just got us the 2nd time when Levi missed a sitter. They did beat us last year, the game which Bolton lost his job.

Ugggh that was a shocker. They came from the clouds to beat us that night, pretty sure we were 5 goals up deep into the 3rd quarter.

Can you imagine the 'brave' lovefest that will happen if they get up.

I don't get it...This Game should be postponed.... How can any Essendon* player take the field? Even if they test Negative, there is always a risk.....

I agree.
I've called Harry all sorts of incompetent and I've also called for him to be dropped in past weeks BUT even though he missed some sitters and dropped a few marks he might have taken, his workrate was up and the way they worked together meant it didn't matter if one of them missed a few shots.
I am convinced it is between the ears with Harry and he just needs a good shaking and someone like McGovern to make him develop a routine with his kicking. Once he gets that, his confidence will do the rest.
Unless I am mistaken, TDK is also a lefty, which means that if Harry does get dropped or injured, he would just slot in to the patterns.

Has there been any official call yet about whether the game is going ahead or not?

Agreed. If there is any subsequent infections detected from them we may be drawn into this and have our own 14 day lay off. The season is at a cross road IMO. This could really get away from the AFL particularly if there are further + tests.

Calling for Harry to b dropped is laughable. Our tall forward line is our defining strength. There is no way he gets dropped especially if the Ess back 6 are out. I reckon Harry is on the cusp of a decent haul. Remember when you have 3 big talls they won't all shine at once. They share the success. And Mcg had what 5 touches??

How many games has SPS played at HB at AFL level? If he's not successful at it overnight do we really just discard the experiment?

The AFL is working feverishly to redefine what "close contact" means.

If I was a Carlton player I would't be comfortable lining up against them.

Andrew Dillon has said publicly the rules are clear, if you can field 22 players you have to play. Seems like the AFL is trying to get on the front and get everyone used to the idea of this game going ahead. I’d be very surprised if it didn’t

Basically it appears the whole Essendon* backline would be out for 14 days.

Big danger game if it does go ahead:
- I have a memory of failing repeatedly against depleted teams
- Also, it would be less than ideal if half our team ends up with COVID-19 (although I suspect that the risk is not high if they deem it ok to proceed)
