Let's not keep propagating channel 7's misleading stats.

The 75 points Sydney scored in that quarter is not in the top 20 single-quarter scores in VFL/AFL history.
On thirteen occasions a team has scored 13 or more goals in a quarter.
If you just look at 3rd quarters, their 75 points is equal 9th (it's the fourth time a team has scored 12.3 (75) in the third quarter).
If you just look at goals and only for the third quarter, then their 12 is equal third (it's been done ten times in Q3, and one team outscored then with 11.10 (76)).

So I guess if you were being extremely generous, you could say that the matchday commentators heard "equal third in third quarter goals" and whoopsie-daisy accidentally said third-highest single quarter score of all time. And since then, every podcaster and radio jibberjabberer has run with it, because it's fun to dunk on Carlton.

That is my concern also, when our older players move on who do we have coming up.
Having an honest look at our list, who are our next potential A-Graders.
For me we only have:
Jagga
Dean
and potentially HOF and Byrne, but I think they will more likely be B graders.

All the rest are c graders with some possible c+ or b at a stretch.
That is not enough to be competitive.
While Walker will be a great addition, we need a couple more potential A grade mids and at least 1 running back to be coming up.
And some solid B-B+ players to back them up.

It is becoming quite humbling looking at the list from this perspective.
It is no wonder the senior players feel safe in their selection, coaching have themselves in a corner.
At least I have already lowered my expectations for the year.

Yes it is quite grim IMO, and that's without factoring in the Marvel handicap.

i don't think semantics matter. 12 goals, 13? ... it's all deplorable. and in a season where i wasn't expecting much, or hoping for anything more than development for the kids. the blues manageged to disappoint me in round zero. and then in round one they go an hour without a goal against the spoon favourite.

we are a terrible skilled team with possibly the only thing worse than our skills, is a coaching.

6 games in two and a bit years we have kicked more than 6 goals in 2nd half
2 X WC 2 x North 1x Rich and 1 x Geelong

That is 48 games and ironically the 6 we kicked in 2nd half against Sydney was one of our better scoring 2nd halves

2 years plus and it doesnt seem to be addressed on why the scoring dries up after half time

Small sample so far, but Carlton's points from turnover differential is currently -29.3 - only Essendon** is worse.

Carlton are 18th for points scored from turnover.

Essendon** are the only side I'm half confident of us beating.
