They're going to keep using this potential to cause injury nonsense. I reckon Harry will get a week

Win this one and I'll calm down and start to believe we have actually taken a step forward.

Not holding my breath after our last visit there.

Win or lose, I was pretty pessimistic pre season…..and even though we have been winning ugly I think we’ll be ok this year.
Especially when we get some of our injured back.

Getting players back is crucial.

If we have our best five mids in for next week it’ll be only the ninth time out of 26 they’ve played together.

Assuming Owies needs another week, that Martin comes back via the VFL, and that McGovern & Harry are available….

B: Newman Young McGovern
HB: Saad Weitering Docherty
C: Acres Cripps Hollands
HF: Walsh Charlie Motlop
F: C.Durdin Harry SOJ

R: TDK Hewitt Cerra
Inter: Cowan Fisher Kennedy Pittonet
Sub: E.Curnow

In - Acres, Kennedy, Walsh
Out - Carroll, Honey, LOB

Hewitt has been so-so over the past couple of weeks (he only had 25 metres gained today!) - he is due a good game. If he’s carrying an injury and needs a week off, then Ed stays in the 22 and LOB is sub.

Genuine danger game. We are not at our best, Adelaide can be decent and it is in Adeiaide.

Is Acres definite to return? They've been quiet on his injury.

I like the idea of Ed going to Laird. If Walsh, Kennedy and Acres are all ready to play, I actually don’t know who should miss. Maybe Cowan misses and Cerra spends some time across half back again.

The Crows were impressive in the showdown last week.
They have a strong forward line which includes Tilthorpe, Rankine and Rochelle.

Spot on I reckon with Ed as sub.

Wouldn’t surprise me but it’s the best side we have put on the park this year

And we have Weitering, Newman, and Saad.
Plus Young and Docherty.
And I’ll raise you a Charlie, Harry @ Crippa.
We have more weapons than Adelaide.
But, I do rate them and we will need to have our firepower in good working order. Esp our midfield needs to be at its brutal best.

Cows have lost to GWS and Richmond.

They’ve beaten Port in their biannual grand final.

Not that impressive a start really.

If we’d started the season like that there’d be blood on the floor in here.

Ed is not a Sub.
He will take care of Laird.

Carroll to Sub again...

Interesting to see if McGovern gets up ?

Yet the fend off that gave Cerra a black eye is ok?

If we can control the football, we win this. This team can do it. they've shown they can. We'll have some good in's.

Carlton by 13.

Agree with first part of your statement but not second part.
We are at a different stage in our development to them. We are looking at finals, potentially top 4 for the season to be a success.
Realistically if they win 10, they should view it as a good season.
We win 10 and there'll be a sakc Voss thread.
That said, as per the first part of your statement we should win but unlike last 2 weeks, we need to be good for longer, not crap for longer and hope that's enough.

They’ve been patchy in those GWS and Tigers games, but were in both games with a shot at winning them. We barely got over the line in the GWS game and were out-played for large parts of the Tigers game. Reality is there’s not a lot that separates our seasons so far. If the Crows bring four quarter consistency we’ll be in for a tough night.

^ Any room for Dow this week?

He has had very good games consistently in the Magoos, every week....

You cant really ask for much more than that?

I guess given the likely ins and the way the team has been going, its a case of who does he replace?

Nope.

He's shown he can only play one position and at AFL level not particularly well. So he'd only come in I reckon if 2 of Cripps, Hewett, Kennedy, Walsh, Ed are out.

Mistake we've always made if we bring him in 'on form' but he can't play in his only semi-effective position is that he can't find the pace, can't perform, and is swiftly dropped.

He's had years to add strings to his bow and hasn't. Absolute bust.

I'd go:

B: Cowan - Young - Newman
HB: Saad - Weitering - McGovern
C: Docherty - Cripps - Hollands
HF: Silvagni - C.Curnow - Motlop
F: Durdin - H. McKay - DeKoning
R: Pittonet - Cerra - Hewitt

INT: E. Curnow - Acres - Kennedy - Fisher
Sub: Walsh

And I'd take Plowman and Cincotta over as emergencies. Let Dow, Carroll, LOB, etc. play full games in the seconds.

Fisher.

His 2nd half was much better which might save him. Can Ed Curnow remain in the side if Kennedy returns?

I think I'd prefer Ed on the bench over Fisher though.
But I guess it'll all depend on match-ups too.

Either way we need to break this Adelaide Oval Hoodoo.

I'm not looking at possession numbers. I'd rather look at impact and Ed can do stuff that Fisher cant in a Finals like game, and Fisher cant do the things Fisher wants to do because whilst he's nippy and elusive somewhat he is not fast for a small. I think everyone should know that by now.

There will be a stage when we don't need a tagger, and need pace and that's when Doc joins the Fab 5 in the midfield rotations. Hint: when Boyd is back coz Williams wont.
