Stocker (if fit) or Boyd for Williams.

It will be interesting to see if we go ‘like for like’ and drop Kemp for Young, or if we return to the structure we had in the first 8 rounds and play the extra tall. If the latter-
(1) one of Young or Kemp will play forward - which one?
(2) who will be the unlucky one to make way for Young? Motlop? Carroll? Owies?

Not sure who for Young. Maybe Plowman?

No one deserves to be dropped from today' side. Will depend if anyone is sore with 5 day break

Play like we did today and we win.

Absolutely no way plowman get dropped after that game. His last 2 games have been brilliant really. Young is an automatic selection but it won’t be for Plow

Who is currently the worst performing player centre to back.

To my mind it is Newnes and he isn't the future anyway.

Newnes out, Young returning to CHB, Kemp to HBF, and Doc to wing. Or reverse that if you like.

Stocker replaces Williams.

Love for Dow to get a look in but it isn't going to happen except as sub maybe.

I think Owies needs a spell. those misses could have been costly. you want your small forwards kicking those.

Long list of injuries probably saves him, but Fish starting on wing could see Cotts come in there and push Fish forward.

Not that I think they will change a winning team with a deep injury list.

No to moving Fish. He’s found his mojo let him keep going exactly as he is

With the 5 day break I think a freshen up of the squad will definitely be on the MC's mind. Assuming Young is out of his protocols, he'd be straight back in, and if Stocker's shoulder is back in one piece I'd be tempted to bring him back too. I don't think we'll see Williams again for a long-time, and if the MC's like-for-like mentality continues, Kemp might be the other unlucky one. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more than two changes, Owies could probably do with the rest, but as to who might come in? Perhaps Fogarty would be most like-for-like and have the fresh legs.

Not going to disagree - Fish has been excellent. Just couldnt find another small forward I rated enough to give a game to at the moment. I dont think Fog is the answer, and I think Owies could do with a rest. So just pushing some magnets around.

I wonder if Newnes could play small forward? He has the tank to defend deep - which is expected of our smalls.

BTW I feel you're right Jake, Fish is playing well where he is so I think Owies will play on Friday.

Would be nice to have Honey and/or Cunningham killing it in the 2s about now :)

Then put Kemp in the forward line

Yeh think Owies needs a break. His pressure is good, but his goalkicking is not the best. We cant bust our behinds to give him easy shots at goal and he misses them.

Shame really as he really positions himself well. But I saw enough from Motlop to believe he will offer much more than him.

Motlop and Durdin are the quality. Owies is just a filler.

Let’s not change a winning dynamics of a team who are working very well together. The only change I’d make is Young for Williams.

Give Motlop another week, mostly because there’s no one else demanding to be brought in (or they’re all injured).

As for Kemp, see what he gives us a the fourth tall in defence, he struggled a bit against the big guys. Stocker and Boyd unlucky but let’s not gift games, they’ll be emergencies anyway.

Cotts to fill his normal sub role.

Stocker for Williams - for obvious reasons
Young for Owies - Kemp forward, lead up target, Charlie deep. Keep one of the McCartin's away from Charlie.
Dow for Carroll - has dropped off a bit since debut, had a 3 game run, time for a freshen up in the 2's

Awful to lose Cripps to the ruck, but get it vs GWS
Awful to see Silvagni in the ruck, but get it, whilst Pitto is out

This week we are up against 2x 202cm rucks (Ladham & Hickey).
Good news is they are 20 kg lighter than Preuss.

I love the way Silvagni took the ruck and TDK bolted forward...nearly worked.
Maybe Kemp to play 3rd tall forward with Silvagni and Charlie, so we can give TDK genuine rests.

At this early stage, back to some normality with 3 talls either end.

OUT: Williams
IN: Young

Need a 7th defender to replace Williams

OUT: Motlop (or Carroll, or Owies)
IN: Stocker

The more I think about it I think Carroll is the one to miss, he’s had three games and he’s still young, I’d rather give Motts a few games so we get games into everyone.

That makes sense. No drama if its Motlop or Carroll.

My bottom 6 were:

Carroll ... Looked overawed and not sharp like last 2 games
Kemp ... Looked lost or a player out of form, in the first half, but played well 2nd half
Owies ... 15 disposals, 2 easy misses for goal, 0 tackles, 73% Def, 5 score involvements, pass
Motlop ... great first up game. Similar game time as Owies only 9 disposals. Needs a preseason

Cottrell ... similar game time as Owies for 15 possesssions
Newnes ... I thought he played a great physical game. Hit them hard and 18 disposals and 8 score involvements

Boyd for Williams
Young for Carroll.

Kemp plays forward.
I thought we lacked a second tall forward target and expected a lot of Charlie. Can’t do that every week. Return to our normal structure of 2 KPF’s and Silvagni as the third.

Could be Stocker for Williams, but I think Boyd was better than Stocker in their last games and that might see Boyd get rewarded.

Not knocking you or your bottom 6, but the fact you have Newnes there shows what an even performance it was as Newnes was far from bad I thought.

I don’t disagree with any of that. The other option is to play Young forward/2nd (3rd?) ruck and keep Kemp in defence. I lean towards Young in defence personally, but it could go either way.

And I don’t disagree about Carroll, although I could equally see Owies or Motlop being rotated out.

I cant see them making too many changes after that win. Young has to come back in, and we know that Williams is definitely out. After that, its discretionary. I think Stocker is the only possible In to play the Williams role. Carroll might be due a spell, or possibly moved to the sub role.
