Edit: Stocker will probably need another week and I forgot Plowman, but I’m not sure Plowman gives us much more than Boyd right now.
I spoke to stocker at game yesterday and he said he'd be good to go for GWS...

Not up to him but sharing anyway...

That’s a great call! But I think he’ll miss another week

EDIT: just read bluehammer’s post. Let’s hope he’s right to go!

Danger game. Not only have we lost every interstate match we've played this year, but GWS cause us trouble regardless of ladder positions. The game against them last year was possibly the most frustrating game we played all season.

Martin is an obvious out due to injury and Hewitt (if fit) an obvious in. The rest will be interesting.

GWS currently $2.18 whilst we are $1.69.
To be honest I think $2.18 is great value for GWS - they are a different side at Giants Stadium (as opposed to Manuka Oval) and on paper are as good as anyone.
I'll be very happy if we can win.

We didn’t have Curnow last year and finally out midfield depth is as good as theirs.

Another big challenge for TDK, Preuss is a big man, although not as violent as his predecessor in Mummy.

Force Toby Green up field for his touches and keep him away from goal, run off him when you get the ball and make him chase.

Much tougher at Giants Stadium as opposed to Manuka Oval.

Funny you say that. I saw the odds and was thinking $1.69 is great value for us. One team is 6-2 and the other is 2-6. They have a talented list but their club is rudderless.

Also it’s a completely different scenario to last year. Our midfield has gone from one of the worst in the league to one of the best in the league, and with Charlie back and in form we have possibly the best key forward pairing in the league. I can’t see how they will stop our midfield giving Charlie and Harry enough supply to get a hold of them

I'd be tempted to give Stocker a go at Toby BUT while I think Stocker could match him physically, Toby would school him tactically. I'd be willing to give him a go to teach him but I think there are better options.
Might even try Saad or Williams on him. Saad with his closing speed so even if Toby outsmarts him, he could close quickly. And then give Toby a lot to worry about the other way.
Irrespective, we'll need the team to have a plan if Toby just hangs back - I will not handle him scoring easy Joe the Goose goals over the back...

Hewett for Martin.
Very excited to hear that Marchy played most of the VFL game, didn't get injured, and seems even played reasonably well! :-)
And while I'm off topic, I'll just state for the record that I think we match up quite well with the Demons. We might struggle against some other of the better teams and need to be able to match the Dees running power and discipline, but I think we are better equipped than most to compete with them.

I just relived our Round 20 2018 debacle against these guys to a couple of work mates.

They had no rotations for the second half and were down to 16 men on the field in the last quarter and still kicked 7 goals to 1.

Those scars will never heal.

Good points. It's still a challenge, though. They will back themselves to find some form against us being at gws stadium. So they might play beyond themselves knowing we haven't beaten them there. If we overcome that psychological aspect we will win but we'll see. I'm anticipating a tough contest and I'm quietly confident we can overcome them. I'm happy with the improvement under MV. We still have a way to go and this week is a big test.

In NFL parlance:

Martin - doubtful
Williams, Hewett & Stocker - questionable
Plowman - probable

I reckon the young fella will get a taste this week & the smalls group will top the bigs for scoring.

If George is right to go, I’d have O’Brien as the one to make way. Carroll, Newnes & the mid/fwd rotation are plenty for the wings if Carroll can stretch to 75% game time.

Hopefully Williams is passed fit.

Their strength is their midfield, if they nullify ours it will be tough.

If we get on top in the midfield we will exploit their backs and kick a winning score, must win the midfield battle.

Besides TG up forward they don't have much fire power (especially without Finlayson who loved playing against us)

Expect Preuss to smash into TDK.

6-2 and we’ve only played two sides in the 8. They’re 2-6 and only played two outside the 8.

This will be a lot harder than we think.
