No Cotts is a bugger... We're losing pace AND endurance...

Agree Boyd out of the back line is a must, but Ollie and Newman need to move quickly and hit targets... Swans forward pressure /turnover in the middle of the ground is huge...
need to be be able to break through that

Go Blues

So
Out Cerra Cotrell and most likely Pitto.

I would bring in Williams Marchbank and Binns as sub.

I would play Williams up the ground around the ball maybe a stopper on Gulden.
I would shift Kemp forward and have Marchbank playing his role.
Kemp providing 2nd forward target when Harry is in ruck and used to blanket the lizard.

No chance this Week.

You can add Cottrell to the list. :banghead:

I had the same thought re Kemp. Don't particularly like shifting him around but I think this week it might be the exception to the rule.

i dont think akuei or mirkov are going to make it as afl footballers. so, i suggest we select one of them, give them the honour of playing a senior game, get them to flatten the gumby looking 'lizard', then sub them off. its a win for everyone

Hopefully they reward Binns with a full game.

You won’t find a more ready like-for-like to play the Cottrell role.

Yep I’d like to see this as well

How good is fox footy... 24hrs apart by the same writer...

So which is it? Are we basically back to full strength or missing some big guns? ImageImage

Maybe it’s just poor grammar and they meant the swans were basically back to full strength….

Even with the outs it's still a decent 23:

Kemp - Weitering - Newman
Cincotta - McGovern - Boyd
O. Hollands - Cripps - Acres
Walsh - Curnow - E. Hollands
Owies - McKay - Martin
DeKoning - Kennedy - Hewitt

Cowan - Binns - Durdin - Carroll

sub: Marchbank

i'm just a bit reluctant to pick players who have 'test' written next to their name, so no Williams or Pitto.
Marchbank isn't listed as injured and they eased him back as the sub last year, so they might do the same this season.
The only other fit players (with AFL experience) outside of this 23 are Fantasia and Young.

I like it, particularly if Martin is also an out

Yeah, he wouldn't want to give Vossy a glimpse of how perfect we'd be without him (sarcasm, please calm down everybody :) )

Surely Cottrell out opens the door for Binns to get a run at it. Clearly way too good for VFL and 43 touches last week.

Maybe can't play Ollie and him in the same side, but has to be given a go.

Our last few of his type and around the same pick have been busts (Fisher, Philp) hopefully it's a finally a hit with him.

The case for the ‘nay’ camp is that the job he’s in line for isn’t a 42 disposal job. It’s an opposition chain-breaking, 0 goals against job.

I’m in the ‘yay’ camp. I think he can handle the defensive task.

That's true, Cottrell covers anywhere between 14 to 16km a game. It's a lot of ground to cover, but for what we have in the twos I would say he is most like for like

Ollie ran a 5:54 2km at the 2022 Draft Combine.

Binns was 6 seconds behind him

No one doubts his running capacity. He was top 10 on the agility test as well.

The question is whether he can turn & run back uphill to affect a contest. I think he can.
