I think our best 22 will change from week to week depending on the opposition....

eg you want Warnock in when we are playing vs Sandilands, King, Hille, Ottens, Mumford etc but would probably want the more mobile Kruezer/Hampson rucking vs Dean Cox/Nic Nat combo.....Warnock wouldnt be able to keep with Cox..ditto vs Brogan, Jolly, Clark, Maric....

eg Hadley....have in him vs the teams who like to play it close with plenty of contested ball situations like the Swans, but vs the likes of Essendon*, Freo etc you wouldnt want him and Mclean in the same team IMHO and would probably go with the younger more agile Mclean and look to quicken the team up....

Same with the forward like...Yarran, Betts and Garlett are probably not always going to get a game all together every week but will mix and match depending on conditions and opponents...

I would prime Betts to play midfield more next year, so Garlett and Yarran can stay together in the forward line. No reason why they all cannot play together. All different players altogether.

Swap Joseph with Gibbs, Henderson with Murphy, and Armfield with O'Keeffe and you have yourself a deal.

Wouldn't worry too much about a line-up formation like that Budz, it's all about where they line-up once they have the ball in today's footy (i.e. on the counter-attack)

JR and AJ are in our best 22.
So is Houlihan until further notice.
Setanta will be interesting. IMO he is ahead of Austin on 2009 form. Interesting to see if he is overtaken.
No guarantee Mclean will break into that midfield. If he does, Carazzo might be th eone but on last year's numbers he would be unlucky.
I'm STILL not going to do this until a bit later when we know whom we have to pick from.

At this stage, Round 1 2010 imo should be:

B: Thornton, Jamison, Armfield
HB: Bower, Waite, Scotland
C: Walker, Gibbs, Simpson
HF: Murphy, Henderson, Carrazzo
F: Betts, Setanta, Yarran/Garlett (based on pre-season form)
R: Warnock, Judd, Joseph

I/C: Kreuzer, McLean, Russell, Houlihan

Emg any 3 of: Robinson, Browne, Grigg, Other of Yarran/Garlett, Austin, Pick 12

Call me biased (as I'm sure we all are) but looking thru most of those 'best 22's' on paper we look very very good.

If we keep the boys healthy and injury free there is still no reason we cant finish top 4 IMO

I love that team jimmae. I really do.

But I can't help wondring how you rate 206; I think you're wrong on that front. We didn't pick him to make up the numbers; give you the tip.

As for Browne.....this has been an ongoing debate betweem me and Browne fans for more than 12 months...and I know I have come up trumps on that one but Browne has been preferred to Armfield by many Browne fans in the past based on ???????. So what's your take on Browne? I don't rate him in 2010 (but I would have pre 2009).

There are other names Browne is up against....not starting with A. I reckon Browne is on the periphery for the same reasons I have stated during the last preseason. I like him but he's not a top 25 'god' in my books, like Wiggler is positioned by some fanataics...no where near it in fact. Is it because he's from tough WA?
WA veteran Mal Brown and his era are dead imo! The game is still tough, but the skillset required has changed...just my opinion.
