Looking forward to seeing Setanta get a go out of the goal square. Could be anything.

Fingers crossed he can get over that blood clot issue.

The solution for the problem is pretty simple. There is a product called Warfin that is prescribed as a anti-clot medication. He should be on that.

Oh Congrats Carlos. Love your hardness at the ball.

Dude it's called Warfarin. It is anti-coagulant medication but there are also others out there...heparin, aspirin. Not having a go but if you don't even know what it's called don't go giving out half-baked medical advice.

Too many issues/side effects with Warfarin, Heparin, Clexane, Asprin.

Trust me, I'm a doctor.

(Well I'm not, but I'm well versed in anti-coagulants)

Playing AFL footy on warfarin would be a good way to get yourself killed.

Remember when Ted Richards got clobbered by Fev. If he was on warfarin at the time he'd be in an ICU or dead.

But Setanta's problem sounds arterial, not venous, in which case warfarin probably ain't gonna help.

Ahh thanks for that Bjaffe, figured I got the spelling wrong. But given I was on the phone at the time and signing off on peoples timesheets as well I didn't care to spell check.

Now where are those X-Rays I was asked for an opinion on?

Excuse my ignorance but in a full contact sport like AFL could being on an anti-coagulant pose some problems if he gets a bleed?

So........ Setanta out of the square, hey?

His combination of strength and agility that close to goal could be exciting. If you're wanting the ball to come to ground so that Garlett, Betts, Yarran, Murphy, Carrazzo, etc can do their thing, I would suggest that Setanta is your man.

Simon and others are right anti-coagulants have numerous issues. Blood clots are serious as well. We know the syndrome of Deep Vein Trombosis can and has caused deaths in otherwise very healthy adults. If Santy is having ongoing issues with arterial clotting then he needs to make a decision re his footballing future. I know of athletes on low doses of aspirin and playing contact sport* with minimal effect, but in Santys case if his problem is serious and not able to be managed so that it does not impact on his longterm health, there maybe no option but to retire.

*Endurance athletes that 'Blood Dope' often use aspirin to counter the negative effects of this therapy.

Finally I acknowledge that my above posts were badly written, I should adhere to Camels mantra "Think then post'

or not post when I am doing several things at once.
