Some of you are right....who cares what Fev or any one else does at a public function where the entire football community can see him.
Who cares what he did in Ireland. Who cares when he spits the dummy on the field. Who cares when he doesn't chase.
I've been overseas and i got in a fight. I've spat the dummy at someone during a football match. My mate never chases in a football match because he's overweight and says he cant be fu^*##. But hell i'm Australian and so is my mate. Thats what we do. So Fev should do it to!!!!
What an absolute joke this thread is. The fact that some people see this as perfectly acceptable or just another 'Fev' moment is pretty damn ridiculous.
How long can we put up with this sort of embarrassment. Is it 'cool' to have our 21 year old future star Marc Murphy telling his 28 year old senior team mate that enough is enough and having to carry him out?
Some people need to grow up on here and realise that Football is not just about what happens on the saturday or the sunday.
And dont say lighten up or you take life to seriously because no one is telling Brendan not to have fun and no one is stopping him from having fun.
Fun is not embarresing the club himself and most likely his wife infront of the afl community.
For the Carlton football club to become a powerhouse once again we need to comand respect. These sorts of antics do not command respect, it makes us look like a complete rabble because it's the guys 5th offence.
Jason Gram missed a physio appointment and thus was not allowed to play that week. That is a club that demands perfection. They are playing in a grand final this weekend.
Fev had mad monday to 'cool off'. Smoking ciggies and getting trashed is no way for a guy that is getting paid a hell of a lot of money to treat his body. Be it during the year or during the off season.
He clearly does not care about anyone bar himself.
Here here - well said!
Those of you defending Fev, answer this simple question ...
Will Fev's behaviour off the football field ...
a) help Carlton win our next flag
b) harm our progression towards our next flag
c) won't make a difference
If you've answered c) then in the words of Michael Caton "you're dreaming".
Every respected industry professional including Ross Lyon, Bomber Thompson, Brett Ratten, Greg Swann, Mike Fitzpatrick, David Parkin etc would answer b). And the reason they'd answer b) is they know how bloody hard they are to win, and anything that may even remotely jeopardize that chance is not good.
Now even if that harm is 1% (ie Marc Murphy and Bryce Gibbs lose a bit of respect for Fev) then it's 1% too much.
Yes we all like a good time and a laugh but premierships are bloody hard to come by just ask the Dogs and the Saints, and we are coming up to a premiership window, but so are other clubs and anything that happens that can damage our chances is unaceptable. Fev will have plenty of time after he retires to act like a goose.
