You don't win finals with a second rate coaching staff. That was a disgraceful effort by the coach. I would not know where to start.
Carlton sides don't lose finals like that
Build a backline or perish. And get a backline coach or perish
Put Kruezer at centre half forward or perish. You can't win finals with one forward
Tackle, Tackle, Tackle. Disgraceful tackling effort. Not up to finals standard
Delist the down hill skiers the players who play one quarter out of four. (Stevens, Wiggins, Houlihan, Cloke & friends can not win you a premiership.

No. You said: I agree. We should fold. Lock the doors and throw away the keys.

So you're saying we're going to be crap next year verbs?

You reckon? We're a team on the rise.

Give us two games against all of the top eight sides from this year and I reckon we'll end up in front.

How disappointing!! Our 'exciting' midfield - what a joke!! Down hill skiers-absolutely -where was Gibbs tonight - weak as p++s - Walker - couldn't get a kick in a stable and Murphy gets all his kicks going fwd -wouldn't win a hard ball get if his life dependent on it!!
Wiggins makes one interception for the night and will play all 2010- we refuse to play a strong player around the HFF - poor Fev no support!! - Kreuz has to play CHF - backline is only part of the problem - we hardly win any contested balls at ball ups!! Why???
No balls!! Our on ballers are all soft c**ks - Really miss Hadley! Why don't we have another hard nut for that role - no planning Ratts! How disappointing - I am furious - believe that we could have made a prelim this year - a lot of work to be done during trade time and pre season- some players need to read some things other than their own diaries!

I don't ever want to admit that Blight is correct, but: We were very poorly coached tonight, and our gameplan truly was dumb.

I would love to know why Judd was left to watch from the bench as the game slipped away from us. When you have the chance to put the game away, the one thing you DON'T do is pull your star player to the sideline... Then LEAVE HIM THERE.

Let's see if Ratten puts his hand up and accepts some responsibility for this disastrous move, instead of glossing over things and talking about how far we've come.

The MC must also shoulder some of the blame.

Garlett for Yarran was a bad move. He just doesn't yet have the physique required for the intensity and physicality of finals footy. Spent a lot of time dancing around the contest.

Grigg looked like he thought he was still in the VFL. Why Setanta wasn't kept in to give us some height down back once it was clear that Bradshaw was going to play is beyond me.

It was lost in the coaches box in the last qtr. You could see the mindset from the players as soon as we ran out. Protect the lead, and go defensive. Lack of rotation in the midfield and bluddy Judd off the ground when Brisbane were making their move! :banghead:

Yeah good on us for making finals etc etc but we were 5 GOALS UP and pissed the game away as soon as a bit of pressure was put on us. We reverted to that stupid over possession football in a final no less.

Really disappointed in that effort showed a complete lack of direction and heart on the field.

I do hope we only cull the minmum number of players and we don't go over board. We need depth to cover injuries and ensure all spots available we have multiple players competing for.

Nah, the 22 from tonight should go, as well as 5 or 6 others. 27 picks at least. :donk:

it was a general "you", not directed at you specifically. I was making the point, that just because we made top 8 this year, doesn't guarantee that we will make top 8 next year. Look at Hawks, Swans, Roos etc.... Next year our FIXTURE will be a lot harder.

It wasn't the coaching - with only a handful of guy's that have actually played in a final, we were up... then got stage fright, and a team that was built around guy's that have won numerous GF's ran over us.

Season's over - get over it - we played finals - we will win finals next year because of this!

Our young boys will learn from this.

GO BLUES!!!!!

Great post in a night were there will be many over-emotional responses. Not enough mature heads and bodies to get us to the line this time, 5 goals is nothing is todays footy. Yes we should have kept on attacking and hopefully we will learn to keep the foot on the throat. Kreuzer, Gibbs, Murphy, AJ, Bower, Betts, Simpson, Russell, Hammer will all be the better for it. 206, Waite, Jamo, Hadley to come in.The Lions had 5 Premiership players out there tonight who stood up when it mattered, we had 1 premiership player and 2 others who played in a final 8 years ago.

Having said that if we cant find a better defensive coach than Montgomery in the off season then we are not trying hard enough.

Without getting too dramatic,
It's clear that our list is a work in progress.

- Edwards and Hartlett and Bannister should go - minimum.
I also think Bentley and Pfeiffer need to face reality.

- Bentick and Jacobs: I don't mind them, but if they are not in our plans maybe we should swap them for someone who is???

- Johnson: do we persist? Or are Ratts and Bomber man enough to admit they flowered up?

- Is Wiggins the best thing for our team for another season? Had some great marks tonight, but was atrocious last week

- Recruitment: Tall Forward, in-and-under midfielder, and a tall back if theres anything left. Am I off the mark? Is it really rocket science?

Lets re visit this thread in a few days when emotions are not running as high as now and we might find a lot of supporters will be pleased with the improvement we made this season. This one hurts but bring on 2010!

Dont kid yourself... Cloke, Wiggins, Grigg, Johnson will still be in the mix next year.

Your only as good as your bottom 6 and ours is up there with the weakest in the comp.
We made finals because of one reason only... our top 5 players are stars and they carry us all week every week.

This loss will hurt the club, we dont have the coaching staff or personal around the club to help our boys recover from this

Bottom seven?

I understand what you're saying, but please give it a rest with the bottom 6

Who the !@#$%& are you Robert Walls??

It's just some stupid "in" phrase from June or July. Every team has a bottom tier, all that matters is how they play together as a team.

Bottom 6 = :garthp:

Move on FFS :banghead:

That's much better, at least it's original!

Unacceptable being 5 goals up to let this game slip. You gotta grab opportunities and we failed when it mattered most. My 5 year old son was in hysterics at the end of that. Time to chop some front runners, Stevens and Scotland just to name a couple. Fancy having Judd sit on the bench when the game was in the balance. Unbelievable!

Dogs were there for the taking and who knows what could have happened in the prelim. I guess we'll never know.
