Grigg has been told he wont be getting aa game if he continues to play "cheap, lazy football"

Who is this Dennis Armstrong of whom you speak

Silly girlfriend edited my post before I sent it and called him Armstrong. Don't know why, but she always calls him Armstrong and tries to correct me when I call Army Armfield. Weird. :garthp:

She must be getting him mixed up with Barry Armfield

We cannot carry any lazy players from here on in...how did Bentick go today in the Ants?....would he be a possible replacement for Hadley or do we go the Simmo/1AW/JR option? I'd prefer to use Simmo, Walks and JR for our run. Bentick loves it in close and by hand he is good and by foot crap...a lot like Hadley. He also tackles hard and doesn,t mind the tough stuff. I'd try him this week against the Crows. With finals the reward I reckon whoever comes in this week should have enough incentive to play well.

Selection in the All Australian team has to be earned.

At the moment - Yarran is playing the same role as Betts and Garlett.

Small forward. He has shown nothing to suggest he can take an overhead mark or even lead.

He is small. Somehow we got his height wrong. At 180cm he is small.

At 185cm, he may have been a 3rd marking option.

Match committee should move him on fast, before we get stuck with him.

He will not play in the finals this year.

HUGE game. Hope all involved treat it as it is.....a final before the finals.

Thrilled with our recent form however this represents a true test against a finals hardened side, in form, who we struggle against.

This game will tell us plenty about our finals prospects in '09. Making up the numbers or a real smokey?

Grab the opportunity blue boys!

When you come back to reality, can you tell me the name of the player who took an overhead mark on the lead against Sydney?

Can Joey win Center Clearances?

Thought his handballing was creative today... and Hadley hasnt won a stack of clearances....

Joey is courageous..

Id like to find out...

Would Grigg be a better option inside ?

Hadley is the one that needs to be replaced...

While I think I understand part of what you are trying to say about Hadley bringing some other intangibles to the team over the past couple of weeks, to downplay his work at the clearances is wrong. He had eight clearances against the Kangaroos and turned the game around in the middle in the third quarter that game. He had a couple of big games earlier in the year too.

In terms of replacing Hadley around the clearances, Carazzo seemed to spend a bit more time in the middle with Hadley out. Maybe a combination of Carazzo and Eddie (who has shown an ability to win the contested ball when thrown in the middle) would work in that area with Garlett and Yarran taking Eddie's forward role. I know Eddie and Carrots don't have the physical size that we crave like Hadley does, so perhaps Walks or Russell are better options from that respect, but would be loathe to move Jordy given that he seems to have found his spot and needs the confidence.

Grigg has the size and can win a clearance (from Rounds 11 to 16 when he had a decent run at it he ranked fourth in clearances after the big 3), but I do agree to an extent that he has become a bit of a lazy outside footballer this year.

I'd bring in Yarran for a bit of flair and I'd tell Carrazzo to fill in for Hadley.

I don't want to be a Negative Nellie but the odds for Adelaide are pretty juicy.

Carlton 1.55
Adelaide 2.47

Is that under the you've-already-had-a-broken-arm-this-year rule?

Pretty easy selections this week, I'd imagine. If Tex can play in the midfield I'd like to see Yarran get a go, but if Yarran wasn't even in the team this week there is no way he gets played in such an important game.

Who is dennis armstrong?

I agree.
For some reason they are a very underrated side.
No real superstars but they get a good even contrubution from all of their players.

Same old story I know, but we really need to give Fev a hand up forward. He's going to be double and triple teamed by a pretty solid defensive unit so we need to give them another dangerous forward or two to worry about.

Centre clearances will be the key though, we couldn't buy a centre clearance after Hadley went off on the weekend so we really need to find another player to step up and extract the ball. Whoever plays on Judd needs to be reminded at every opportunity that the other mids have Judd's back, blocks, bumps and shepherds need to be laid all game.

Do the Crows forward line require Setanta to go back this week as he would be handy up forward?
