I wouldn't be surprised at all if this bloke is in our leadership group in a few years.

IMO was our cleanest player Friday night. Might not have had many touches, but had a large influence with his delivery by foot.

Are you kidding ... hope you have taped this game ... have a look at number 3 and 4 for Carlton and come back and post about clean delivery and delivery with influence

Gibbs turned the ball over at least twice in the first quarter, one of them was a terrible decision (handball to Judd). Murphy dropped his first handball receive under little pressure and dished off the handball to a hot Army which cost us a goal. These are the mistakes from numbers 3 and 4 in just the first quarter. Both were awful by foot last week, especially Murphy.

The way some people think, it's like the Russells of this team are constantly making errors and the Gibbs' and Murphys never do! Take a closer look and you'll see all players make these errors and it's ridiculous to let one or two mistakes from a lesser player influence your thoughts on him.

Russell should not be mentioned in the same breath as Murphy & Gibbs. Please.................

So players other than Judd etc don't come under pressure in AFL games?

I've heard it all now :donk:

you must not watch footy closely with a post like that. I will repeat a part of my post ... "Also you can never compare the pressure situations the likes of Murphy, Gibbs and Judd find themselves in compared to say a Jordan Russell "

You haven't seen Judd, Gibbs and Murphy almost strangled at most stoppages ... the player on Judd the other night took tagging to a new level ... he was a blight on the game. Judd, Gibbs and Murphy have to play inside and outside ... Murphy in fact has been getting worked over by the opposition from his first game. JR does not get this type of respect from the opposition ... in fact most of his possessions (and they are not many by the way) have him facing his target which is alot different to the starting point Judd, Gibbs and Murphy find themsleves in. No comparison :donk:

Yes when JR goes for the ball the opposition holds back..If want to believe that opposition players put less pressure onto the lesser players, which would probably account for about half of our team, then you must not watch footy closely

You want to see a totally sh..ful top 10 pick?

Get a tape of yesterdays Geelong/Adelaide game and have a look at Kane Tenace.

Makes Jordon Russell look like Hayden Bunton!!!

For those that didn't see it (and those who are interested!), JR did fine in his first appearance on the Footy Show this morning. In fact, of our younger players, I'd say he's one of the better media performers based on this morning. Kept his answers short and to the point and in the spirit of the show. Well done JR!

Well if he performed well on the sunday footy show he must get a game next week

JR is improving . He just needs time .. . . . . How many times has that been stated on TC . Over 1000 I'd say .
We have another 30 or so players that "are improving and just need time " .

How much time have we got ? ? ?

He spoke really well on the footy show, not a single yeah no, I spose or a sort of uttered.
It was a real Carlton theme on channel 9 yesterday, Russell on the footy show, Scotland on the handball (he won) and then Waite on the show after about the TAC.

So we can't congratulate a young player on his performance in the media without drawing a sarcastic comment? Nice one.

Show me where in my post I said there was any connection to his performance on the Footy Show and whether or not he'll get picked for Carlton this week. :screwy:

I have been very happy with JR since he has returned to the side.

I think seeing Jordan Bannister again made me realise that JR, even at his worst, doesn't get to Bannister bad.

Well Leigh Matthews had him as his best player of the night.

JR was very impressive tonight - great defensive pressure, some brilliant disposal (a long left footer in the first quarter was as good as it gets) and showed real composure at times.

Pleasing to see a young player starting to believe in himself and becoming a real important cog in the team.

Time to move onto the next scapegoat (Yarran?)

It would be really nice if as Carlton supporters we could have no scapegoats...and supported our players.

Awesome match from JR.

Starting to really step it up against big opponents.

As usual verbs is ahead of the pack on this one!

Great game from JR and great to see the MC give him a big job on Stevie J. Was more than up to the task.

Have to say, always been a fan but at the same time acknowledged he has never been an A grader to date.

By golly by gosh. Tonight he was superb!

Sure. Johnson may not have been fully fit but much of JR's great work didn't just involve Stevie J. Some of his marks in defence were beautiful.
