Better not to comment on this rumour until more is known....let's just hope no more is known.... :sly:

I highly doubt a self made billionaire will just hand over that much money to a compulsive gambler, dick would have been smarter than that

This was a really disturbing piece on fs last nite.
It seems like he does have a problem, and is in denial.
Do you think the club pyscologist would be able to help?
maybe we could get The ox to give him a friendly call.
The bit about throwing games gave me cold chills.
Man,he has a new baby on the way..maybe he needs a more positive hobby..like painting the new nursery??

Been around for a while this one. Fevs love of poker is well known. Fev's time 'away' from his family was a major part of he and Alex splitting, that said the paying off a debt and throwing games are embellishments of the story

Oh no doubt he has a problem, but those allegations are so serious I can't see how they would be covered up, I mean throwing matches ffs

What...................A.......................Crock.

Seriously - Fev is not the smartest cookie but he would be the last player to EVER throw a game! Absolute rubish.

If he has the gambling problem they say he has - it is more than likely he would do anything to feed that Habit

ANY sportsperson who owes money to a bookmaker should be looked upon with the deepest suspicion. There's all kinds of ways to pay off a debt, that don't necessarily involve throwing a match.

For example, imagine you owe a bookie a hundred grand, and you're odds-on favourite to kick the first goal of the upcoming match. When the favourite gets up, the bookies lose. So, a pretty easy way to write off a fair whack of your debt is to make sure you're not the first goalscorer of the match.

How easy's that? You're not actually throwing a game, and you can probably convince yourself you did nothing wrong and sleep easy at night. Just fumble a mark, shank a kick, IF you get the first scoring opportunity. Almost impossible to prove you did anything wrong.

Of course, I'm not suggesting Fev has done, or would do this. Just pointing out how easy it is for sportspeople to become compromised if they're stupid enough to get in over their heads with bookies.

The AFL would, naturally, deny anything like this could ever take place. But the minute the gambling industry gets its claws into your sport, is the very minute you open yourself up to the darker side of human nature. And unfortunately, there are so many stupid novelty bets on sport now, there are a myriad of ways for bookies and competitors to influence the contest.

No-one loves their sport more than the South Africans, and they had a proud history in test cricket... and yet we all know what happened. What was once unthinkable is now all too believable, unfortunately.

Not sure what Lloyd has to do with Fev and gambling.
