why the hell would you drop bannister?

Quicker side, lighter bodies. He didn't look too pacy out there last week, and complete disrespect from the opposition saw him sneak two goals.

I see him as a tagger, medium defender and borderline (I cannot stress that enough) defensive forward. I can't think of a match-up for the Dons that I wouldn't just give to Carrots or Grigg. Grigg stepped in last week and did what we wanted Bannister to do. He's out.

Thornton is the next choice on talent, but it's important that we don't go to tall in defence, nor too tall in attack. Austin will need to push his leads right out of the forward line; assist the midfield with aerial coverage and chain of possession.

as good as thornton might have been this year, i think our defence looked its best it has for the year in the second half against the saints.. we took risks by hand and foot, and ran-- two things thornton doesnt do...

Agreed, Thornton is a slow mover of the ball.

I don't think I've wanted us to win a game this badly in a long, long time. Stakes are high... a win will leave me feeling on top of the world... a loss :yikes:  I honestly struggle to comprehend what that would feel like.

Could not agree more.

The betting has us at 1.45 and Ess at 2.65.

We're buggered if this is this case. Athough some good money to be made on the scum this week.

Hate to be an echo, but I agree too. I'd love to see the backline remain unchanged for a week

I'm going to have to tape the game and watch it after I know the score. If it's close or we look like losing I'm afraid I may need to buy a new TV.

And it also means that if the unthinkable becomes thinkable I don't have to subject myself to such totrure.

SMASH THOSE BASTARDS INTO THE GROUND. I WANT THEM TO FEEL AS THOUGH WHAT WE GAVE RICHMOND IN ROUND 1 WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A FLESH WOUND.

A line must be drawn in the sand.

These dirty pieces of dogcrap must be mutilated!

Failure to deliver victory in this game will not only ruin our season, but it will ruin my soul - I think I'll consider going to a buddhist monastery in the Himalayas and meditating in silence for 40 years.

Win Carlton!!!!!!!!!!!

Win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't care how, Just Win!!!!!!!

thornton has a great record against lucas.

fwd line pressure is the key in this game. last time they ran it off half back and scored at will.

Don't get so stressed!

It's only a game!!

It's winning No 17 before Essendon* (and preferably against Essendon*) that really counts.

By the way, anyone else on this site there when the Blues last beat the Bombers in a GF (1968)?

Unfortunately, I also witnessed our loss to them in 1962.

This is probably the biggest game for us since 2001, season definining, arch rivals, foundations for a finals assault. Add the scandal thats affecting us right now and this is absolutely MASSIVE - Its on a Friday, MASSIVE :hitcomputer:

Agreed, aside from the "WE WERE WAITING" add in the paper and Lloyd publicly ridiculing our hothead defence if we lose this we more than likely drop two games behind the Pies, Lions and Crows and a game behind the Bummers. There is no option other than to win this game.

This is like a grand final .
Can't imagine what it will feel like if we lose .

In , Thornton . . . . . out , probably Austin .

Austin didn't play against the Saints.
