I'll be back in Melbourne so I can actually go to a social event rather than just read about it

As an add on to Taff's post, the state is holding a memorial service prior to the day at Visy Park on June 21st.

Bump.

No forecast for rain tomorrow so would be nice to see a big turnout down at Visy Park.

I'd love to make it there on Sunday.

Will be a great day of remembrance for a great human, and a great Carlton man.

Richard Pratt's life celebrated at memorial service

I went to the tribute today, and it was an excellent event. Loads of Blues supporters in attendance, which was great to see on a cold and damp Sunday afternoon. Everyone who entered the gates was give a booklet with at least half a dozen food vouchers, of traditional footy fare, that was far more than even the piggiest pig could managed to consume. There were some performances at the beginning.

Then several people spoke. John Bertrand, Winsome McCaughey, Kevin Rudd (gave a great speech too), Justin Madden (probably the most engaging speaker of the day). Michael Long spoke about the contribution Richard Pratt made to Northern Territory football. Of course Sticks spoke, the whole team came out and everyone stood up to sing "We are the Navy Blues" a few times.

There were also some songs from Richard's daugher Heloise and Paul Anka reworked My Way for the event. It was also the first and probably only time that there will be a bouquet of white flowers in the ladies at Visy Park.

Yes SG........we were there too; and it was a great and moving day......we felt privileged to be there; and it was a credit to

all who organised the whole event.........many tears were shed; but it was nevertheless a happy day; especially during the singing of our song.

Heloise Pratt has a great singing voice; and "Wind beneath my Wings" has never sounded better.
