Its fair to say that Pratt didnt like Collo or Smorgon who were the key initiators of the Carlton One ticket.

However unfortunately in all walks of life there are always spheres and cliques of self-interest - whether it be the committee of the local tennis club or the Board of an AFL Club.

We all like to think its an idealistic world we live in but unfortunatley its not.

Thankfully at the time of greatest need Richard Pratt was there and by God/Yaweh  we as members of the Carlton Football Club should be forever greatful.

Interesting article by Caroline Wilson in The Age today...

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2009/ ... 68757.html

I was having a chat on the way to the game yesterday with dad and bro. We were discussing footy politics, Pratt, Smorgon, Collins, Elliott, Kernahan etc. General consensus was for some concern. Elliott (and I know many on here are fans of his, but fact is he presided over cheating, presided over a disastrous decision to build the Legends Stand, presided over falling membership and presided over the accumulation of massive debt) has become more and more visible recently. He is a mate of Kernahan. Kernahan, for all his love and passion for Carlton, has a chequered history as a Board member, and seems to be easily influenced by others. With Pratt out the way, are we returning to the days when Elliott (and maybe Lofts) have increasing control in the Club? Remember, Kernahan was Elliott's VP, and continually defended and supported Elliott.

I hope we have mechanisms in place to avoid this happening.

Thats what she wants us to think. She wants us to go to war with ourselves again.

Resist.

All is fine. Pratt has steered us in the right direction. I have faith in Swann and Sticks and the board .

Keep in mind that we had push overs like Malouf etc on our board at the time. I doubt people like Swann and Icke are going to let all their hard work fall arse over.

Malouf was not on the Board. Swann is not on the Board. What goes on at Board level is independent to what goes on at an operational level. And Swann would not (and should not) have any say in what goes on at Board level.

I understand her weekly laser facial hair removal treatment is a mandatory part of her contract for her to appear on Channel 9.

As loathe as I am to admit it, Caro is on the money with that article.

Having John anywhere near the 'controls' of the club after what he did is simply unacceptable. He can be a member and sit in the crowd, attend functions etc but he should have no say in the running of the club period.

He doesn't have a say in running of the club, which Pratt was at pains trying to avoid without upsetting his friendship with JE.

He placed him in charge of getting the money-men back to the club via the coterie etc

I have no doubt Pratt had no illusions about John, it is Johns ambitions and delusions that worry me.

If you have a tenant that has burned down your house via stupidity you certainly do not invite them to move back in once you have rebuilt the house.

I'm with BM. I admire Elliott's passion for the Blues, but don't want him anywhere near the decision making table.

Can't see the members voting him back in after voting him out.

Even the biggest Elliott supporter would have to think twice about that one.

Times have changed.

We've moved on.

I hope. :yikes:

If it were to happen, and lets be honest the odds of it happening should be obscene, there would be 3 memberships in my house not being renewed.

There is a saying in politics "You get the representation you deserve" - and this is true of a Boardroom - whether it be a football club or the local tennis club - we have 40,000 members you want a say in who is control of the club then register to vote at the AGM and make sure you vote.

If Jacks story is correct (as synbad says it is) then he has already been near (or at the) controls of the club since his removal. That worked out pretty good for the club you would have to say.

I dont think anyone would vote him back in. I doubt he would even want it but i reckon he is quietly having his say. Like taking stick off to talk to Pratt.

Lets move on.

The more we talk about it the more Wilson is sitting there chauffed knowing she is sowing seeds for another internal war.

What if we needed Smorgn out to pave the way for others?
What if Rose was nudged to do that story before the election?
What if all along there were forces in the background ready to move in at the appropriate time?
What if thse forces were not going to materialise 0penly and have a yiddish shitfight in the business world between 2 of the most prominent families?

Regardless... everything hapens for a reason.

Elliot is out.
We took the punishment that forced us to become an upto date AFL football club and not an out of date VFL football club
Pratt is a Carlton immortal.
The club has a good chance to return as the star on the christmas tree in the AFL.

Perfect!
