really really devastating news, AW is the last person who deserves this sort of thing. i wish him all the best and hope that a long term aim to get him right is successful but i unfortunately i am really doubtful. i know people who have had 1 shoulder reco and still couldn't bowl a cricket ball 20 years later. i know walks will do his rehab to the best of his ability but even he'd be wondering if it's all worth it now.

So who will get promoted, given that AW will have to go LTI after that?

Looks like the pre-cautionary stuff turned out to be a complete waste of time.

hence the reason why you play all your best players together when you can, because this is the sort of shit that can happen.

I feel so bad for him. Absolutely no short cuts this time. No pushing himself too early. Do absolutely every step of rehab as its required. next shoulder injury is end of career.

poor bugger  :banghead:

What are you trying to insinuate? That Carlton exposed him to unnecessary risk by playing him in a VFL practice game rather than an actual home-and-away fixture against a notoriously tough and physical side?

It's a big shame and although I think he is full of talent, it's getting to the point where we have to accept that he'll never be able to make full use of it. His most prominent weaknesses, decision making and skill execution, are developed over time and through experience. He's what, 23-24 now? He will be back for sure, with his attitude and the off-field set up we now have, but there's only so much you can do with a body that keeps breaking down and a huge amount of development time spent injured.

harlett spent 5 years on a list for essentially zero return, so i'd say walks have 2 more seasons on no return before we'd have to give up on him, and he's given us plenty of good games along the way.

has he ever had a full reco before/ maybe this will be a good thing and stop the injurying re-occuring? i haven't given up on him by a long way yet.

But yet again here's a perfect opportunity for Harts or Edwards to stake their claim for a spot. They've been given repeated chances to do this with key injuries to both Walker and Fisher in the past, and haven't done it. You'd have to say their time is nigh.

I'm pretty sure when he seriously injured his shoulder last year it wasn't a reco but more of a scope and clean up. 99% sure it wasn't a reco.
