Pro- Marc Murphy - ready to explode
ditto B Gibbs
Russell - I was wrong about him, he does have what it takes, he's not there yet
Jacobs - more than held his own
Too many more to mention, waite, Betts, Robinson, Hadley, JUDD et etc

Cons - We looked our worst when the Tiggers applied the super flood, didnt know how to pentrate, and coughed the ball up playing tempo which cost us goals
- Cousin's hamstring- was a sad moment
- Wiggins's kicking - its not a one off its inbuilt. bad misses with no pressure, what will happen when we need him to nail them to win a game. He's a real concern to me. Despite his super 2nd efforts and defensive pressure, he's a liabilty with his kicking

Pro - Wiggins.

Con - Supporters who continue to bag Wiggins. Get a clue - what he does with the 1% are what wins games. If he continues the way he's started he will finish with 40+ goals for the year and set up twice as many more.

Hang on I've got another one:

CON

Who gave Eddie Betts that crappy handball halfway through the third quarter that Eddie ran onto to kick his second goal of the quarter?

Ordinary handball that - Eddie had to break stride.

I like your observations Molly.

There is so much depth in the list now that every player is under pressure to get a regular spot in the starting 22. Perform or you're out.

O'Keeffe and his left foot might get a game if he's a better one on one defender than Johnson.

Riley was spot on.

I didnt think chris johnson looked so bad?? some pretty good long pin point kick ins - i always seem to have my hand on my heart when a point is scored against us - ithought he was pretty good

Our basic ball skills are vastly improved. Watching Richmond was like watching us from 2-3 years ago...fumbling, short passes, over possession, not looking up the field etc. Yet now I have confidence that we'll actually take marks, run the lines and move the ball quickly without coughing it up. There was a passage of play right in front of me in the stand (i'm not sure who the players were...forgive me) whereby it was a 3 on 3 contest and we just ripped the handballs around like lightning. A couple of years ago it would've been a turn over for sure. Sure, people can say how rubbish Richmond were, but they're missing out on how good WE were.

Richard Hadley stand up please. Seriously, no wonder Leigh Matthews cracked it when he lost him. Goes to show that patience pays off. He really assisted Judd in the stoppages, and let Judd have some breathing time on the bench, which isn't shown in any stats, and is invaluable. I'm thinking of getting a #10 guernsey...is that presumptuous? I'm a big fan, just hope he can string a few games together and get a run-on, which I think he will now.

Stevens, Walker and Carrots to come in plus we have Bentick, Dangles and Carlos waiting in the wings too....bring it.

Con:
Seeing Eddie limping at the end of the game. Didn't look serious, he was smiling from ear to ear, but you know, makes one worry a bit.

Still too long to wait until we can thump North and St Kilda and inflict some retribution.

Our rucking has improved, but still seemed a little uncoordinated with many taps going to opposition players. Maybe we're just not used to winning the taps???

Pros:

Another pro was Joseph's pace on the chase late in the game. Gobbled up the space and came from nowhere and affected the Richmond players kick.

With Grigg and Walker certainties to get back in soon, and Yarran and Armfield not far away, we've got more dash than we've had for decades.

Pro: Everything that has been said plus more...lots more!

Con: Bloody Tigers played THAT badly that it is still really difficult to see where we are at. We needed the Tigers to put up a show to see how far we have progressed. Would have been good if Tigers didn't make all those silly mistakes just so we can truly judge how far we have come since pre-season. Still credit to the Blues for playing a very very clean game tonight.

This is a well drilled side. I remember watching the Hawks 2 years ago and being envious at how thier guys just knew what to do. Same thing with our guys last night. The use of short to medium diagonal kick and handball to break lines was something I hadn't seen before, and it was decisive because Richmond didn't know how to defend it. Ratts and everyone else deserve major kudos for the way they have shaped and instructed the side in the offseason. Guys like Murphy, Wiggo, and Simpson took options last night they wouldn't have even considered last year - to re-tool experienced players like that is a major accomplishment. To me this was easily the biggest pro of the night.

In the same breath - how on earth can Wallace spend 5 years with a side and have them play like that? On the tv shots, he looked out of answers by 15 mins into the first quarter. They'll get pumped by Geelong next week, and then it is just a countdown until we see the back of Teflon Terry!

Agree 110%. We finally seem to be playing as a team with a plan or even multiple plans for every occassion.
People aren't giving us credit but they will, they will.
I think Ratten has done wonders. Can't see why it wouldn't continue and therefore quite happy to say this.

Reading the forums, and listening to the talkback. All opposition supporters trying to convince us not to get too excited, and convince themselves that it was purely because Richmond were shit, and that we weren't that great. You can smell the denial.

THEY KNOW WE'RE COMING

Which reminds me, where's Melvs?

Interesting.

Pros

Hadleys return to senior footy. Great to see persistance & passion for the game pay off. I love quiet achievers.

Jeffery Garlett just being there. Inspiring. Well done recruiters and development team.

The three tassie boys. Love their grunt and intensity.

Cons.

Thornton makes me very nervous when he has the ball.

The carry-on in the coaches box. Calm down boys!

I thought Thornton was very poised. He is so, more often than not. Used the ball very well and was calm and collected when moving the ball out of the defensive 50.

Johnson is a wonderful kick, but he conceded three goals to Morton and is a poor defender.

I didn't want to concede anything to those bastards.
