He didn't sleep with another players wife. He hasn't killed anyone and hasn't ruined anyones life.......

Of course id have him back in the side. It's the biggest beat up in football history

Amongst my group of mates there been heated confrontation between us and we are still the best of mates. Guys get a little hot under the collar but the best thing about us is that we can forgive and move on and continue to be the best of friends like it never happened.
QFT Melvs, some around here would make a dash in Usain Bolt time, straight home looking for their mummy's

Now I've seen it all

How could any supposed Carlton supporter have a grizzle about the Tribunal not suspending one of our own for more than 4 weeks. But it's very amusing to see a vendetta going unfulfilled. Boo hoo

Anyone with any sense would rather fix on the iniquity of the suspension not applying to NAB Cup, Regional Challenges and practice matches.

Our club told the AFL we could be trusted to act without AFL involvement. The AFL chose not to leave it in our hands. That clearly relieves us of having to mete out any penalty that isn't solely necessary for our own purposes - we no longer have an obligation to punish Santy for the sake of the AFL competition. If the players are willing, we should revoke the indefinite suspension immediately and call him back to Carlton training sessions to shove it up the AFL. He should be told to avoid injury because he'll be playing against North no matter what.

And, by the way, to compare Santy's skills to Prenda's is laughable. Santy's footskills equalled Prenda's in Santy's first year at the club, and now they're so much better it's not funny. If Prenda had Santy's present footskills, he'd still be playing AFL footy.

Rubbish conclusion. How can there be two suspensions and they not be served in the same manner? It boggles the mind badly.

doesn't make sense. reported in NAB cup serve suspension in NAB cup. Get reported in training match, miss games in season proper. flowerwits!!!

anyway, its a good result when you look at it (apart from the previously mentioned tripe). It will get the collingwood morons bleating about setanta only get one more week than maxwell.

Agree totally, I could understand the beat up on the news and radio but couldn't believe some of the reactions on here - words such as king hit were used. Put it in perspective there were two haymakers that just collected Cloke. If they were direct hits Cloke would have been stretcthed off and the kick was a gesture to get up you weak %$#%. What Carlos did was wrong but some people around here need to relax and put the knives away.

Both serve via NAB Cup games first until team is knocked out, then season proper for the rest...................

Dislike a player all you like but thats just wrong - answer this - who would you pick at Full back or Centre Half back on Pavlich? The guy who drew even with him in 2008 or the guys who gave up 4 goals in a quarter in 2005?

+1  Molsey

KK can't believe that you made that comparison; either you are a troll and should be ignored, haven't watched Prendergast and / or Setanta play or simply don't know what you are on about.

Go to your DVD collection and pull out the games where he acquitted himself against the games best power forwards i.e. T. Cloke, J. Browne, M. Lloyd and of course the game last year against Pavlich. Pay special attention to when he was off the ground and Pavlich embarassed Waite (who seems to be a untouchable on this site).

You are welcome to your "opinion" as much as the next person but when you start sprouting rubbish like that something has to be said.

Couldn't agree anymore, Carlos performed better on some of the bigger forwards last year than Waite. Waite is more versatile and can go forward however do not forget some of the hidings he copped last year.

Don't know what games some people watched last year but do not underestimate some of the work Carlos did which freed Waite to play in other roles.

Hey not sure if anyones posted this link before but i think i actually agree with Grant Thomas for once

I have an idea though - we should all take video cameras to other clubs intra-club matches and tape them in case we see any incidents that might warrant a suspension or at least a reprimand then email it to the herald-sun and whammo 'insert opposition player here' is out of action for when we play them.

WHAT A GREAT PEICE BY THOMAS.

The biggest beat up ever in football. It was disgusting how Matty Grandlan from SEN reported the incident

I think Grant Thomas has succinctly said what happened...Perhaps it's the fact that I read about it before I saw it too.......but his take on the incident (and reactions) is spot on (I feel!)

Matty Granlan is the new Derryn Hinch......biggest media whore on the airwaves.

No credibility at all. His fake sincerity reporting the disaster yesterday had me gagging,

Grant Thomas - well said.

I hope that Setanta gets BOG in the 'Ants as soon as he's playing again and more importantly finds his recipe for reproducing his best form when back in the ones. He clearly has a lot of passion and it has been good for the team before. Compare it with the crimes we see nightly on the news. He has had enough punishment for now IMO. He has been humiliated. It took Australia's worst natural disaster to knock it off the news headlines. If he's sorry and does his penance the team will forgive him. And so should we.

If only to see the reaction from some here.

I can't believe we have Carlton supporters upset he only got 4 weeks.

OK . It's done and dusted .

Get Setanta back on the training track . Get him fit for whenever he can play again . Give the help he needs , and get him sorted out .
Apart from the toe-tap , it's the sort of thing that happens in physical sports all the time .

Want him back for the Essendon* game if possible . Monga will crap himself all over again ! !

Now lets get on with whatever comes next .

It is expected his teammates and coach will agree to do likewise at their meeting, and it could well be that O'hAilpin's decision to agree to the four-match suspension may yet remain his only punishment.
Sit and wait for so-called Carlton supporters to howl in protest if that's the only punishment he gets

Some people are going to look very foolish.

GT is spot on in my book.

Interesting to hear Andrew Gaze talking about it on SEN this morning. He said he can't recall playing at a club in his career where he hasnt seen teammates come to blows under the competition at training.

example?

I think most people agree that what our leadership group decides is what is best, they are in the best place to decide, not us and not the media.

Would be amazing if he can establish himself as a regular player now and one that performs.
