This begs the question....

Would you welcome Setanta back into the senior side eventually in 2009 or are you happy to see the back of him ?

Terrific result.

Carlos might be back in time to belt the other Cloke in round eight.

I like the so called punishment Carlton dished out to him - send him to train with the Bullants - I would have thought thats where he would have been playing anyway so how is that a punishment

I find it staggering, bewildering and utterly incomprehensible that a strike in an intra club to your OWN teammate is deemed serious enough to miss 4 games for premiership points but allowed to play in the "Who Cares" cup and any intra clubs (not that he would anyway  ) yet the filthy black and white cauliflower breaks an opponents jaw from another club, gets 3 and can serve it in the "Who Cares Cup".

They can't have kept a straight face when giving those 2 penalties out.

learn about how the fixed points system works before you cry about it, jesus christ teaguey, you should be happy about the result.

I can't believe all of this stress about a player who is about as good as Prendergast was, actually not even that good.

I just want us to move on and put this distraction behind us.

Only thing left is to see what we decide is a suitable punishment.

That's where it should have been left in the first place.

Prejudice is clouding your judgement, clearly

4 weeks is bugger all....
He will get a bigger sanction from the club.

The biggest problem for setanta is if he makes it back he will have a swag of points hanging over his head....

Dislike a player all you like but thats just wrong - answer this - who would you pick at Full back or Centre Half back on Pavlich? The guy who drew even with him in 2008 or the guys who gave up 4 goals in a quarter in 2005?

4 weeks is exceptionally soft from the AFL

2X punches
1X kick

hits were behind play as well.

It would seem as if the AFL decided the penalties on the basis of all 3 hits as being one incident. Which means in theory you can throw 20 punches at a player and get away with just one striking charge. Ok that was a bit of an exaggeration but imo should be at least 2 separate charges laid (the punches and the kick).

Great result, really.
I didn't really expect him to be in the rnd. 1 line-up, and barring injury, I think we'd stick with the same team for a few weeks on the trot before making changes due to form. Which means he's probably not going to miss any matches he might otherwise have played, really.
He can spend his time training the house down instead.

KK can't believe that you made that comparison; either you are a troll and should be ignored, haven't watched Prendergast and / or Setanta play or simply don't know what you are on about.

Go to your DVD collection and pull out the games where he acquitted himself against the games best power forwards i.e. T. Cloke, J. Browne, M. Lloyd and of course the game last year against Pavlich. Pay special attention to when he was off the ground and Pavlich embarassed Waite (who seems to be a untouchable on this site).

You are welcome to your "opinion" as much as the next person but when you start sprouting rubbish like that something has to be said.

Problem is, most umpires are more used to touching themselves (And each other, and *snip*)

The AFL's decision was always going to be irrelevant, regardless of the result. What matters is how the club deals with him.

Hey not sure if anyones posted this link before but i think i actually agree with Grant Thomas for once

I have an idea though - we should all take video cameras to other clubs intra-club matches and tape them in case we see any incidents that might warrant a suspension or at least a reprimand then email it to the herald-sun and whammo 'insert opposition player here' is out of action for when we play them.

This is a @#$%&! load of bullshit.

Setanta should be banned for 4 "intra club" games applying the AFL's logic.... :screwy:

so I am welcome to my opinion except when it is contrary to yours.

Prendergast = good athlete lacking in skills

Setanta = good athlete lacking in skills

regardless, if you know me you will know that I have previously stated that I wanted him on the list this year, purely as a back up in case of injuries.

He didn't sleep with another players wife. He hasn't killed anyone and hasn't ruined anyones life.......

Of course id have him back in the side. It's the biggest beat up in football history

Amongst my group of mates there been heated confrontation between us and we are still the best of mates. Guys get a little hot under the collar but the best thing about us is that we can forgive and move on and continue to be the best of friends like it never happened.
