Sparky, I think there may even be a movie in that. Kind of a mix of the Wrestler (Mickey Rourke) and and Underbelly perhaps, starring D. Cloke himself.

And then for the musical.

But seriously...we can all agree that Setanta went beyond an accepteble level of physicality, and perhaps through rage, shock, adrenalin threw a careless boot at Cloke after the incident. When this kind of event happens in a persons life they do not act rationally i.e. he (IMO) didn't:

a: set out to knock Cloke out
b: have any forethought to kicking him

He was high on adrenaline and reacted in a poor way. I don't think this is indicative of teh type of person he is all the time. Certainly there are few other examples (if any) of this type of behaviour from him.

Let the club take it's due action, and trust them to do the right thing. I do. We clearly have a good set up now, so much better than most other teams, with Swann and Ratts fronting up I feel good.

I believe Setanta will stay and this will be a signpost that we as a club will mark as another dot on our journey to #17.

I love the Navy Blues.

..ppl need to stop livin' in the 80's.. ..i liked the big setant', but he's proven himself a coward with this.. ..on field he's just a whole lot of hot air, tough talkin' and pushin' when he knows the opposition won't hit back.. ..against a team-mate he gets stuck in.. ..weak as piss.. ..no room for him, he's nowhere near good enough for any double standards to slip in, and for those sayin' he's our only hope against the power forwards, bollocks..

I don't know if anyone else has noticed or commented, but....

It looked to me on the footage like Setanta spat at Cloke as well after kicking him. Look at his mouth on the footage. Just as he starts to back away...

To me it implies that something was going very wrong upstairs and there was a lot of contempt from him, not just a simple "brain explosion".

Did anyone else notice this?

no, but it wasn't a real match, and cloke plays for Carlton.

if my aunty had balls, she'd be my uncle.
you're comment has no relevance to the argument what so ever.

santy has betrayed the rest of his playing group. he's crossed a line that should never be crossed and i've lost total faith in him.

you're either committed to the team or you can @#$%&! off as far as i'm concerned. that sort of shit is not welcome.

Certainly does look like he spat on Cloke.

It's a low act to kick someone who is lying on the ground, even lower doing so after you've beaten them senseless. It was a moderately strength kick too, not a toe poke.

Judd and co will decide his fate, and it's up to us to go with it and not complain and whinge about their decision, though I'm sure plenty will.

Looked like he spat nothing more than a few choice words.

And "beaten them senseless"?

How little sense did Cloke start with for that to happen in one hit?

It certainly looks like he spat at Cloke.

Cloke is a vital member of our team in 2009 and is earmarked to be our CHF. You can question his intelligence if you want, but he is an important young player for the Blues in our quest to move up the ladder.

After thinking about the shit that went down, lets just wait to see what happens? Did Clokey say something to fire him up? We know they are finely tuned athletes, first hit out, playing for a spot in the team. Setanta is under pressure to get a game, so lets just hold our breath, take a valium, wait and see.

In your opinion. In mine, he didn't

Agree that he's vital, and a good player at that.

I wasn't questioning his intelligence at all. I was making fun of your claim that Santy "beat him senseless".

Well the question was asked if it looks like he spat at Cloke. It looks like it. If he did or not is impossible to tell.

He hit Cloke hard in the face, and Cloke fell to the ground as a result completely absent of his senses other than feel. He couldn't defend himself by using sight, sound, voice or smell could he? He was only feeling pain, and as such was beaten senseless. Kicking someone in that state is a very low act.

Some people are getting all worked up about perceived things.

Lots of drama queens here today.

Drama much? Oh, that's right, I forgot who I was talking to.

Not disputing that. But it's not like it was a full-blooded boot to the ribs or head. It was a toe-poke to the date.

It's either a low act or a harmless act. Stop sitting on the fence. If you think it was all harmless fun, god on you, but right now it would appear the Carlton Football Club categorically disagrees with you.

The kick itself was harmless. It's what it may possibly signify to team unity that isn't harmless. How much so remains to be seen.

Whilst it wasn't a vicious kick, it wasn't a toe poke from the footage I've watched. It's not on to do that at any time let alone right after you've belted someone. It's a low act that no-one Carlton was happy with...players, fans and officials alike.
