I dont think it was that bad at the end of the day. The kick in the pants was more like a "told you not to @#$%&! with me".

I dont at all ever condone violence towards a team mate and to be honest find it hard to understand but the posters here who want his head should at least wait until all the facts are revealled.

I find the fact that Australia's opening batsam grabbed his vice captain around the throat and had to be seperated by team mates more disturbing and then for the whole thing to be swept under the carpet by the establishment again even more so.

Just saw it on the TV.

After reading all the reports and hearing it on radio my comment is "What an overreaction"!!!! :yikes:

Some people were comparing it to the Hall hit. Not even close! :fight:

He barely hit him and Cloke went down like a bag of Sh1t and then got up.

The only problem I have is the kick whilst he is on the ground, very weak but not career threatening.

I reckon Carlton will fine him and move on.

Nothing to see here!

Not because the coach and committee give him the sack - but the players simply don't want a bar of him...same should happen here. If Setanta stays on the list - he won't be wearing navy blue.

Exactly.
A contemptuous toe to Cloke's ring may not do a lot of damage physically but it's destroyed Setanta's standing with his teammates.

That's a fair point.

Whereas Cloke's hair pulling has endeared him to his teammates.

Oh well, another Cloke gets bashed up, no big thing.

I think the Satanta kick was to see if cloke was still alive.

Bit of spirit between the boys, all good I say.

There's a subtle difference between a tug of the hair during a full blooded wrestle and delivering a footfull of toes to the sphincter of a downed foe.

wait for the facts to be revealed? WTF??? :screwy:

Unless you spotted someone on the grassy knoll it's pretty clear what happened.

As a huge Setanta fan I am really disappointed. It doesn't look good. They were grappling and Cloke seemed to pull his hair but the over reaction was terrible. And boy he can sure throw a punch. He will get 6 weeks from the Tribunal, but he seems a very angry man, on the outer with his team mates before this incident and now I can't see too many wanting to play with him. After games last year he and Cloke often chatted and seemed friendly. It is a shame. When he was playing at full back in 07 he seemed to be coming on really well and popular around the club. Now it seems to have all come apart. Mitch and Pagan handled him really well. Ratts hasn't ever seemed to have much time for him, and whatever problems there were last year seem to still be there. Shame he wasn't traded.

I think if he stays at the club he won't be playing senior football. That was a very very angry frustrated act and those who don't like him have the perfect reason to let him go. He has really let himself down. It seems such a shame that things can have reached this point, but I don't think he can ever have a good relationship with the players now. A few years back a number of them went to Ireland to see him on holiday. Now I doubt any of them will be talking to him.

I doubt ratts has wanted him here last year or this and the most likely result will be an agreement to pay him out for the base amount of his contract, and that will be the end of it. I had hoped he would single mindedly set about showing the doubters he could play, but instead he has wrecked his career.

From the video it looks like a pretty forceful foot tap in the arse, you can see Cloke's entire body jolted by the impact.

Very disappointed by Setanta.

for those saying that there wasn't much in it, think of it this way:

Fev is wrestling with Dustin Fletcher, they go to ground, Fletcher punches him twice knocking him down, as he walks away he turns and kicks fev up the arse.

What would you be saying?

I dont see what everyone's problem is, this is great news.

Setanta has finally managed to hit a target on the football field, the project has finally paid off!

NOT

Why we persisted with this useless player for so long just astounds me, an act of despeartion in desperate times when we were down and out. Its a shame his exit had to happen like this, but our team will be all the better for it.

Setanta :screwy:

Yeah hair pulling is for women (sorry ladies, but you know it's true).

Sticking your foot up someone's arse is Deano's idea of foreplay.

Fletcher is a serial kicker so it'd be par for the course.
