Collingwood will find it very hard to make the finals without Rhys Shaw for two matches, H Shaw for the rest of the season and Didak for the rest of the season. This is very good news for the Blues.

Once again I agree!!

Read my post above and it all doesn't look too bad for us now does it? 8)

Two things to realistically root for in the season now. For the Blues to make the finals and/or the Pies to not make it.

The run home is getting REALLLLLLY exciting...

I know it probably won't happen but:

We beat Port
Pies lose to St. Kilda
Bris lose to Hawthorn
Richmond lose to Adelaide
Essendon* lose to WC

We would leapfrog Richmond, and only be percentage behind Bris and the Filth. (unless of course we win by 80 odd points and Bris or Filth lose by as much)

The only one that doesn't look likely there is that the Scum lose to WC, but it is over at Subiaco and very possible, plus they are the least of our worries as they are behind us at the moment.

If it all (or most of it) goes to plan this weekend, this place will go into meltdown with excitement!! Will make the games against Norf and Bris pretty special. To a certain extent we have our destiny in our own hands. :-D

Now that Browney's been cleared, there is nothing bad to come out of last night's events. I hope the boys recognise that these two dipshits and this flowering joke of a football club have given them one last lifeline.

I dont think we will make the finals unless we get lucky.

But if we happen to get lucky - anything could happen.

No luck it's simply down to our boys wanting it and taking our chances when they come.

Collingwood has beaten St Kilda, so we are now a FULL GAME outside of the 8, making it EXTREMELY hard for us to sneak in now ................

It's a lot easier than that, and the Collingwood game made no difference.

They have a much much higher percentage than us, so being on equal points doesn't make a difference.

If we make it into the 8 - it'll most likely be at the expense of North Melbourne (making next weeks game crucial) - who have a crappy percentage, or Adelaide - who have the worst run home out of those vying for the last places.

Kinda explained it here:

It is looking likely that to make the finals it will need to be at the expense of the Saints. Sure they are a game ahead but their percentage is almost the same as ours (unlike Collingwood).

The Saints run home is:

- Freo (Subiaco)
- Adelaide (Telstra)
- Essendon* (Telstra)

Fremantle don't appear to be tanking so I'd have them favourites to beat the Saints next week.

With Richmond (and hopefully Essendon*) losing today, we look the most likely to sneak in from outside the 8. Brisbane are in deep shit (which makes our game at the Gabba critical) and massive doubts still linger over both Collingwood and St Kilda.

Our next two games are both very winnable and loseable at the same time, given our history this year. We win the next two, then they'd better be breathing fire against the hawks and give them no quarter.

I've played around with the ladder predictor some more and really think that the Saints are the only team we can really hope to replace in the 8. The filth did us a favour last night, make no mistake about it.

We are one game, and in terms of percentage, just 18 points behind them (should be higher in %, but that's been done to death after yesterday.

If we drop a game, we'd still be a chance to overtake them, assuming we didn't lose by too much. That of course would rely on them dropping two of their three against Freo (Subi), Adelaide (TD) and Essendon* (TD). A possibility. On this weeks form Freo and Adel would be big shows against them, and the Bummers play the Dome well, and have a great record against the Saints.

That scenario would also be reliant on us not losing by too much in the game we drop.

Of course we can make it easier on ourselves and win all 3, meaning we need the Saints to just drop 1. If we did that, % would presumably look after itself!

@#$%&!, those losses against the Swans and Crows will haunt us.

Now that Essendon* are out of finals contention I wonder whether they will approach the St Kilda game with a 100% intention of winning.....I just can't imagine them doing us any favours.

Yeah, thought the same. Probably least likely of the three that the Aints will drop, especially with the Harvey factor. That's if the players aren't still sad about it.

Lloyd himself was saying weeks ago that their percentage would keep them from finals, no matter how many they won.
I think Essendon* are being a little smart and not worrying about what anyone other than them thinks is best for them....

Luck is a definate ingredient if we are to make the 8 - simply because we have lost a number of games that we might have easily won.

The Adelaide match is a prime example.

Having said that - such things are to be expected with a developing team.
