A little balance if I may....
Fevola made a general (and in 2008, factually incorrect) statement about an opposition team's particular playing style. Rocket was merely refuting this in the context of our 2008 season (this bit was predictably not highlighted in the papers), and also (somewhat unneccesarily) highligthed the lack of respect that Fevola (the media performer) commands in the wider football community....Fev, the court jester and fool, is his own media creation, and it really goes without saying that he has little respect in the football community outside of his prodigious ability on the park. Ratts rightly was not happy that Fev opened his gob without thinking and without provocation and said as much.
On Sunday night, Fev was the recipient of awesome service and hard work up the field from Judd/Stevens/Gibbs/Murphy etc. I reckon, even with my gammy right knee and poor condition, I could have a taken some of those dolly's on the lead lace out in the 2nd half. In his 10 year career, this was the first time Fevola managed to get a kick against us, and predictably he could not help himself and piped up in the media. His inability to restrain himself with a microphone in front of him is sadly the norm for Fev.
How accountable was Fev with his piss-weak half-arsed 'chase' on Lake just before half-time which cost his team a goal on the half-time siren? Some of his midfield cohorts were probably puking blood at half time with the amount of work they were doing for their team.
I'm sorry Sedat, I usually have a lot of respect for your posts but IMHO that is absolute rubbish.
If you can find it somewhere, have a listen to the interview with Fev again and tell me where he said anything inflammatory. He merely made an honest comment (which on the night was completely correct) that Eade didn't like, so he decided to made it personal. If he had said that the dogs were an unaccountable pack of pansies that play like girls I would agree with you, but the fact is, he didn't. The media love to blow everything out of proportion as per usual and Rocket fell for it.
He would have gained far more respect from the football community had he laughed it off and talked more positively about his team than having a personal dig at Fev in return. What has this world come to if he have to analyse every little comment from anyone in the media and twist it into something bigger than it actually is just to sell papers/get ratings. If I wanted to see and read all of this shit I would buy trashy women's magazines.
The worst thing for Eade is that he forgot that Fevola (rightly or wrongly) thrives on that type of motivation from an opposition player or coach. I just get a feeling that he's got a couple of years worth of ammunition right there.
Like Mil said, and with all respect to you Sedat.
One thing I would like to add without trying to be defamatory, but you are pulling an 'Eade' posting what you did.
It's called deflection.
Don't worry about a fleeting comment made by Fev over a couple of seconds (and straight after a game), rather, put the comment in context and consider that Fev just referrd to Eade's tactic which had been said publicly, that he wasn't going to tag, and it failed. BIG DEAL. It's the truth, there wasn't anything sinister in the comment, so why all the hoo hah...we're grown ups aren't we?
What's your take on Fev making that comment?
My take on that is Eade is deflecting and not taking ownership of his failed tactics.
Why didn't the more mature, level headed Eade just say, "yeah I guess we didn't pay the respect a Judd tag deserved; we got it wrong" instead of worrying what Fev said which the whole football world knew and witnessed. Plain matter of fact.
Eade fell on his sword, and instead of taking ownership, he stooped down to Fev's level as the jester when given the opportunity to express himself into a microphone. (Fev wasn't really being anything other than a footballer who witnessed first hand the events which unfolded and resonded to a question with the obvious) .
Everyone found the tactic of not tagging surreal and everyone was taken by surprise the effect it had on the final scoreboard...even Fev.
Everyone knows Fev is a clown prince (such are those extraverts like Aker), but imo Eade made an absolute idiot of himself. I have lost a lot of respect for Eade from this...he's an agro little prick reacting like that imo...hasn't grown up, but acts like he is.
Would he encourage Aker to say the same things he said? Nah..then what sort of great role model is he for his team? Like I said, Eade's made himself look ordinary, Fev hasn't changed anyone's opinion of him.
Lets move on, and the Doggies should have a good hard look at themselves.
Don't worry about the last 10 years. you haven't got anything to hang your hat on, just focus on the disappointment you gave your fans from losing against a team that dares to dream and take on the challenge.
I grew up living next to Teddy Whitten, so there's a bit of Bulldog in me, and I'd say he would think you're all sooking. This is not the way Bulldogs bite!!
Pathetic, childish from a bunch of sooks clutching at straws. Grow up!
