Sat next to the CS today..... plenty of noise later on to say the least
Had a chance at that level for an up close look at Jamo - his closing speed and spoiling ability are top shelf. Superbly balanced as well. No newsflash I know, but pencil him in for 200 games.
The difference in movement each team employed between the first and second halves was amazing. First half Dogs moved the ball back into the centre and entered the F50 through the guts (and quickly). We played it wide and sloooowly. Second half was role reversal - especially the last. So many entries were coming in quick and through the guts, Fev has a choice of where to lead and got decent delivery.
Anyway;
PROs -
Wiggo, you little beauty. So happy for you.
Russell - you could almost see the wheels turning over in his mind when he has the pill. If he could relax and just play, he'd be above average. One of his best games for the club. His movement and contest were great.
Midfield - When they're on, they're tough to stop. Thinking about these blokes with a consistent contest out of the ruck must be frightening for opposition clubs.
Grigg - stood tall in a couple of big one on one contests today; the development continues. Will be an elite running HBF in a year or two when he tightens up his kicking.
Kreuzer - Could count the mistakes he has made this season on one hand.
CONs
We must persist, but Harts just couldn't get going.
There might have been nothing in the 50m reversal, but Fev puts the ump in a position where a decision has to be made, and that's what he doesn't learn and never will. If you place yourself in the hands of the ump, don't complain when they stuff it up.
As noted - where we fall down against the top teams is movement.
The speed of our movement
The quality of our delivery
Where we end up with the pill when entering F50.
Classic case in point in the second, we had a nice rebound 50 going with some hand balls through the centre. The options dried up, and we end up running in circles for a bit until we bombed it to Betts where the 50 meets the boundary in a 2 on 1. Ball swept up the other end.
What a great win. With games against Brisbane, Adelaide and North coming up... our destiny is in our hands.
