According to SEN this morning (Andrew Maher i think) Setanta has been given a few weeks off to think about things.
Think about what?
How Russell and others are constantly playing shit football but are continually picked but he's dropped like a sack of irish potatoes at the smallest sign of a clanger?
It's really dissapointing because last year, i witnessed one of the greatest athletes i've ever seen developing at an alarming rate in Aisakie and was positive he'd be a starter for round 1 in the ruck. This kid did some special stuff that was just jaw dropping to watch.
Now?..................... he's be thrown to the shit pile.
I spoke to Jordan Bannister a few weeks back (really nice guy actually) and told him i was a big fan of the Irish boys and even HE said that Aisakie is a freak athlete.
Setanta has more heart than alot of people on our list, but he is being poorly handled by the MC.
We were desperate for him against the Saints game,.............but to prove a point, he was dropped. Quite dissapointing to see somebody who tries so hard and gives so much on match day to be dropped only to see HALF-ASSED efforts and SUB-PAR kicking from about half-a-dozen others go seemingly un-noticed by the same people responsible for dropping Setanta.
Setanta is a great kick because he hasn't gotten lazy. Fishers kicking at goal is exactly what Setanta is working so hard to avoid............... a Lazy kicking style.
Setanta has made 2 or 3 silly silly mistakes this year.............for example........................the 2 un-sucssesful spoils he made in the Essendon* game that ended up in goals. But, he's intentions were right..... he was trying to punch the ball through for a rushed behind. How does Jordan Russell explain his handballs directly to the opposistion player just 20mtrs out from goal? Or his un-contested dropped mark? Or his return of 2 goals from 12 attempts?
I don't know what is going on behind the scenes.............maybe Setanta is a hard one to deal with. But either way, if i was in his shoes, i'd be a tough prick to deal with to. Poor guy is probably so frustrated as all hell. I sympathise with him.
Fix the bloody problem.
