Throw him in the deep end at 2...

Isn't that what Pagan did with Bryce in his first year, throw him into the deep end in the backline?

On a personal note, I hate these touchie feel good articles on players that get printed on match day, like last week with Smurph, just think it puts them off there game or the opposition players read it and use it to sledge.

As I have stated on many occassions - Bryce Gibbs has a stellar year when we come good and challenge for the flag...

It was very hard to see this possibility 18 months ago, but maybe it is a bit easier to see it now..

The remainder of this season will be spent sorting the wheat from the chaff, getting a good pick for another gun player or perhaps trading for an established player - then reloading for 09... There might be a win or two along the way to keep everyone interested..

He is in the elite midfielders group now alongside Judd, Goodes, Black, Ablett, Harvey, ecc.

We still need to see how he handles being tagged. He will be a gun but so far he hasnt had to put up with a tagger.
I was impressed by Murphy winning plenty of contested pozzies despite having a bloke hanging off him all day.

Will be good to get bannister back in the team for the run with gigs to free Gibbs to play on ball. THis will either drag a tagger off murphy to gibbs or allow gibbs to just run riot.

Throw Walker in the mix and an inform Judd and perhaps stevens and .....well they cant tag them all.

Go Blues !

Who would have thunk it...?

You never know what you're getting when you take a kid at pick 76...

That Nostradamus schtick's really working well there blueman.

...hang on a minute...

There will be a game in the 2009 season that really defines the new Carlton - we will come from behind and defeat a top 4 side.

I think it will be somewhere aound rd 8 to 10 when this happens..

Gibbs will play the game of his life and everyone will know that we have a new Carlton star...

As for now, well we are kind of preparing and practicing, doing quite well at the very end of the season - but we will have to wait until 2009 for the 8.

It isnt our time just yet..but we will still have some good wins to come this year..

Be happy that the changes that we need to win a 17th flag are happening.. but not all of them will be happy changes though..

While we have the core of our next finals side, the team will have a fresh new look in 2009..

If there were more people that said less, everyone could have just as easily been living in a worldline that had Wells and Goddard at Carlton..

I can recall that people were desperately upset about not getting Goddard.

Amidst the unremitting gloom and misery following black Friday, There were many defiant posters that schemed away about how we could successfully bring Goddard back home to Carlton in 2 years or so and rebuild with these 2 new young superstars in the making....and also abley backed up by another exciting young smokie from the bush - taken at pick 74(?) called Karl Norman..

Looks a bit different in 2008 though doesnt it?

You pretty much get a guaranteed very good player at number 1 in the draft - but by no means do you pick up a guaranteed superstar.
