Please CFC, make a stand. Stop the battered wife syndrome and put us out of our misery. We'll survive without him, who knows, we might even flourish.

If indeed its true that they'll put off negotiations till the end of the year then i'd just about put everything i own on him playing somewhere else next year.

I'm the last person to defend Fev but his antics after last weeks game have been overplayed incredibly.
Not everyones the same and some people accept losses better than others. Big deal.
I remember hearing criticism of AW because he takes losses to heart too much. :? Is there some established happy medium that everyone needs to pretend to adhere to? Its not like this is news to anyone surely.
Whenever anyone plays a milestone game, Fev is the first to grab a footy and hand it to the player in question. That tells me he moves on from defeat immediately yet still thinks of his teammates. Thats not so bad a quality IMO.

My main concern is his on field antics during games. Hudghton was always going to give Fev a run for his money and unfortunately, Fev was always odds on to sook up.
The decision for the club is do you spend 10% of your salary cap on a player that fires against slow defenders but offers way below par against players who can run with him.

Unless Fev can find some new tricks, I dont think so. He has shown an inability to be anything other than a one out full forward.
Not because he doesnt have the ability but because he has to be the centre of attraction or he drops his bundle. He continually drags his opponent into the space of teammates and makes zero effort to make space for anyone other than himself. Unless our structure completely revolves around him, he offers little.
If he's pushed out to half forward, he refuses to be a lead up option, instead choosing to fill the space in the corridor.

I'd take an early first round pick and a player for him but in reality, last year was the time to trade him. With his contract expiring Fev could now just walk out on the club for no return and unfortunately, I have little doubt he'd do it.

If management counts Fevs' post game 'actions' last week against him then I'm concerned with management. I strongly doubt that they would.

I agree, I think we might be seeing Fev play his final 7 games for Carlton.

Context is the key. By itself, the hugging wasn't a big problem. If Judd did it, there'd be few complaints. But Fev knows he's in a pitched battle over pay, and that means he's vulnerable to a perception that he's a mercenary and isn't a loyal Blue. And Fev knew that he'd played some petulant and undisciplined footy (and he's a repeat offender in that regard) which may have cost us the game. Only an idiot would have done what he did without realising he'd annoy supporters. Is it stupidity or doesn't he care?

It's a bit like Barassi's old comment - something like if you can't play like a footballer, at least you can pull your socks up and look like one. Maybe Fev should accept that when he plays his heart out, we'll cut him some slack when he wants to do his own thing, but if he doesn't give 100% then at least he needs to look like a team-player.

Some food for thought...

Question of the power or the glory - Jake Niall.
Quote:
FACED with a choice of Gary Ablett or Lance Franklin, who would you pick for your club? If you chose Ablett, one can presume that you would also select Chris Judd ahead of Jonathan Brown, and, come the draft, you might prefer Daniel Rich to Jack Watts.

If you picked Ablett and Judd, there's a strong possibility that you think $700,000 a year is too much for Brendan Fevola, and perhaps reckon the Blues should sell their high-maintenance spearhead while he'll still bring a reasonable return.

Quote:
Carlton would be foolish not to investigate the midfielder v key forward question before it forks out $2 million to Fev over three years. For, provided they find a defence, the Blues are one club that could conceivably win a premiership (in time) without a gun power forward, a feat that only West Coast (2006), Adelaide (1997-98 ) and arguably Geelong have managed over the past dozen seasons.

If i had a choice between keeping Fevola or trading him for a first round pick and a player......................... i'd keep Fevola.

Fevola is entertaining, the good and the bad, and at worst, it creates attention to the club and it's sponsers (any publicity is good publicity).

A first round pick might nab us a decent player, but players like Fev only come along once ever so often and are hard to replce.

Alot of the kids (as in, Fans and supporters under 13) love him and regardless of his faults, are attracted to our club cause of him.

It's better to keep him unless both parties absolutly wanted to part. We wont get what he's worth.

Alot of people said that StKilda were right to trade Hall for the pick that nabbed em 'Nick DalSanto".................. but Hall took Sydney to a 2 grand finals and a premiership! What's Nick DalSanto done? Apart from promising to be the next big superstar but just falling short...............Hell, StKilda dropped him just a few weeks ago!

Would rather Keep Fev

[quote="Fevola"]This is over from the CSC Site by bigrocks: Is it true ????? Gro, Synbad, Josh

Now I am led to believe Fev contacted the club on Sun arvo and has agreed to sign in the vicinity of $650k pa. He was either signing this morning OR today at some stage. But Fev being Fev, he may have changed his mind again.

quote]

This is what I was told early this week, that Fev had given a verbal agreement to sign, have also heard Alex could be the stumbling block. Having read Caro's article most of which was ummm bollocks, I believe that the whole matter will now be referred to the board for a decision. The board has a policy that all contracts have to go to them for ratification.

Having written that, there will now be an announcement that he has signed

Judd wouldn't do it.

I thought the board while Pratt was there already agreed to a 3 year contract which was offered to him.

Dont understand what is going on then ?

I thought Alex rightly or wrongly would have something to do with this.....

Ratts coming out on the weekend and saying that he has just about had enough of this contract talk etc was a great move in my opinion. Fev now knows that we arent afraid to trade him and THE CLUB is our first priority, not FEV! We hold the upper hand NOT FEV.
No doubt if he toes the line and does the team things he is a gun, but his bad is very poor and his bad attitude when things arent going well for HIM on gameday is not healthy for the team.
SWITCH ON FEV! You have a chance to be a part of something special in the next few seasons.... we are building the nucleus of a good team, be part of the TEAM or F OFF

When is he going to sign then ? If he wants to stay and we want him, and the money, term etc is correct. I dont understand the hold up.

This talk is cheapening us again...........

And yet the Unofficial forums are the ones feeding the talk! We ourselves have nearly 70 pages now....

My advice would be to calm down, read & write about something else and just wait and see what happens.

Of course I know it won't happen... :P It's the Freeway Car Crash Syndrome.
