What would you want from the Saints for Fev?

Armitage and a pick?

Ignore this if he's resigned, I don't pretend to be that up on the status of Carlton players.

dont really see the need for armitage in our midfield atm

mcevoy+1st pick+.... would be a starting point

Armitage is a gun and a better footballer than McEvoy.

He was terrific against us last week when he kicked two goals and showed a lot of poise. He'd easily be in our best 22 ahead of Bentick, Carrazzo and Russell in the not too distant future.

Heard the same on SEN. A board meeting Monday night will discuss removing the contract from the table until September.

IMO it would be a great move by the club, Fev can now sook the rest of the year and not perform, or really show the club and fans he is serious that he wants to play for Carlton and the wear the jumper.

But what if Caro's article is true? I reckon the club would be wise to stop all this until the end of the season and see what he can do in the meantime. We all know what the Fev is capable of but there is an old Mexican saying about the folly of paying up front that might well be applied to this situation.
Fev neds to show that he is in fact able to control himself before the club commits to such a huge contract. I am sure Fev means to play well every week. He is a Carlton man and his joy at winning is obvious but maybe he just can't help himself when it comes to dummy spits and getting the sulks. Maybe for him the joy of winning is the joy of winning and being the hero as well. On the other hand, maybe he also knows Fisher can't kick over a zac, Russell can't kick straight and so gets frustrated when he doesn't get the chance to convert the F50 entries. Who knows what goes through his head?
In any regard, I would applaud deferring his contract talks until after the season. In the meantime, sign up the Murphys and co to their true value and then we will be able to tell Fev how much is left in the cap for him, rather than doing it the other way around.

sounds good to me!!

My money's now on a trade.

I heard from a very good source that a Carlton assisstand who use to play for another team, thinks that Fev is a feral, bogan, show pony and only cares about #1.

If the coaching staff are saying this, it looks like they'd be happy to move him on.

x2.

For the sake of $2mill or so, let's "blowtorch" him and see what he can deliver in the next 7 rounds. C'mon Fev , show us what a "Carlton" man and true "professional" you really are.

In the meantime, can anyone here work this:

JK back to Blues (and a little more), Fev to Lions and Brown to WCE? Matthews loves converting nutters, WCE would kill for Brown leadership as Kerr likely to move on and they are now a rudderless rabble. JK, well, we just love him (and he's getting better, too).

Ponder this, at worst case, who can Fev go to for zilch in pre-seson draft?

Dees - $4.5 mill in debt. Would they punt a $2 mill contract? A Jimmy Stynes sort of man?
WCE - refer Cousins/Kerr/Chick file. Enough said.
Freo - Have Pav already and would Alex and Fevster want to go to WA? QLD is more likely, I'd say.

I think we can "work through" this, somehow.

If I were Ratts, I would simply say to Fev

"Fev you are going to play for the Ants this week, and you will continue to do so until you decide that you want to play for Carlton. There is no room in my team for guys that are not committed to their teammates and this club"

In my opinion we can't devalue his currency by doing so, because every other team knows his strength and weakness and what they will be getting, what it does do is let other teams know he is definantly on the market and will allow them time to make arrangements to facilitate the deal.

If he does sign (which I think he will) then it will show him that he is not the one calling the shots and we are prepared to drop him to the bullants if we are not happy with his attitude or performance.

win/win

So three changes for this week? Out Fevola, Waite and Murphy.

Bugger. Waite won't play his 100th until he signs his contract. :(

Imagine how happy the coaching staff would be if he took some of their instruction on board.

I'll take your money.

Are waite and murphy negotiating through the media? ah, no
Do waite and murphy act and play selfishly? ah, no (waite is bloody inconsistant but)
Do waite and murphy have off field problems? ah, no
Do waite and murphy throw hissy fits on the ground if they are not delivered the ball on a silver platter? ah, no.

So your comments are as usual, designed for muck raking only.

would take the SEN thing with a grain of salt.

Verbs I actually think this isn't about him signing a contract, I think its about attitude - which is why the hugging thing became an issue when it shouldn't have. Fev was shitty Fev on the weekend and I think Ratts was pissed off. We didn't lose because of Fev, he didn't help, but he is not why we lost.

Thing is though, the club either must accept that Fev is Fev or trade him, not get caught in a tangle wanting parts of Fev and then frustrated when they get all of him.

No need to get smart.

These guys haven't had a contract to sign as yet, mainly due to the fact the clubs want's to get Fevs out of the way so they know what they are dealing with in terms of Cap space.

Exactly right. He's 27, we know exactly what he is. Time to make a decision.

Apart from your first point, which is actually little of Fevola's doing, none of what you brought up has anything to do with contracts...ie what this thread is about.

If you think Fevola should be dropped because he is selfish, has off-field problems, and has hissy fits on the ground there are better places to be discussing your worries, and it appears you have quite a few.

so that would mean if Carlton put of Fevs contract on hold until end of season that waites, murphy's etc are going to be on hold as well if they want to be dealing in where their cap space is

You know that for sure? You must know more than Ratten as he said last week he thought those two were just about there. A week later and they still haven't signed.

The management of the club would be well on top of cap allocation. They don't need Fevola to sign to be able to finalise all other contracts.

No they don't need Fev to sign in order for the other two to finalise their contracts, BUT they do need to stop the negotiations with Fev in order to know what cap room they have.

Maybe that is where the rumours of pulling the contract off the table is coming from, i.e this is our last and final offer, there is no more negotiation from this point on.

Fevola can't win when people accuse him of negotiating his contract through the media when Wilson's latest article has come stright from the footy club itself.

So the Board meeting on Monday night will be interesting. Putting off negotiations until the end of the year sounds a wise move. Either Fev knuckles down or he doesn't... and that provides a good basis for negotiating the contract (or not).

68 pages of speculation on here and another page of speculation from Caro - we really do have a lot in common.
