Footy is a team game and no one player is above the club.
I love Fev, but if he keeps holding out for more & more money & longer contract, this will turn into a media circus. I agree with Caroline Wilson (on Footy Classfied) that its time to get on with it and stop the circus. Caro seem to imply that Fev may be influenced by 'external' forces to hold out for more. If that is the case, Fev, be your own man and make your own decision.
If not, lets just withdraw the offer & trade him at season end to the highest bidder. Be done with it. This will teach Fev a lesson. I like to think the club has learnt from the Kouta contract.
The club has backed him all the way and presented a very reasonable offer (from all reports). Time for Fev to show a bit of loyalty and get on with helping the footy club march towards a premiership instead of personal gain. Either be part of the solution or get out.
Let's talk loyalty. Loyalty is a 2 way street. As soon as a player's use is gone, or they can get rid of you to benefit the club, the club is quick to offload you pretty quickly. Ask JK and Lance. Make no mistake, if Fev was a less than 40 goal a year player he'd be gone by now given his indiscretions. Given he kicks 80+ the club needs Fev as much as Fev needs, maybe even more given our lack of KP forwards. So as you can see clubs don't show loyalty either.
This is Fev's last big contract and smart business is to negotiate the best one possible. Some of that business is talking offers from other club and using it as a bargaining tool in negotiations. That's been happening since the year "dot" not something invented by Fev and his management group. He'll stay and I'm sure he'll sign soon.
