kinda like making money from selling white jumpers - if we can - WHY NOT !??

the white jumper isnt here to stay either

you got no idea. I actually came up with alternative designs for a away jumper and submitted them to the club you fool

selling some games away is basically the club saying to the dome management lets negotiate or we will move games away via the AFL

if we sell games, we are a disgrace.

why cant we stitch it up, so that we play two games there against other melbourne sides but they count as awa games.

still keeping out run of home games as it.

collingwood to do it, FFS, they shit me to tears, but they got the game sown up in that respect.

for too long, we as a club have done "what others wanted" for the coin.

how about for once, we demand the coin on our terms.

i dont think its needed for me to express my opinion of the move to TD and the fall of the Social Club is it?

The Gold Coast would make us more $$$'s and give us greater exposure in a national market without putting our position as one of Melbourne's big clubs in any doubt whatsoever. GC is going to have its own team in a couple of years anyway. We may as well capitalise on the gap. Good for getting a young group used to travelling also.

And I can go.

And so can all the other thousands of Carlton supporters in S/E Qld.

My goodness some of you people jump up and down and carry on about an article in the paper that has not been confirmed as happening in anyway shape or form.

Wait until X games have been actually moved to the GC before going ballistic at the club.

i can see the club trying to make a point about telstra dome deal being absolutely shit, but fair dinkum, i can't believe that there is so much support for this crap. why the @#$%&! would you want to give up 1 game and play it interstate, let alone 3???? what an absolute crock of shit. i buy an 18 game membership, because i want to see carlton play 18 times a year live.

IMO it is going to do more harm than good to the image of the club. makes us look as pathetic as the Kangaroos, Bulldogs, Melbourne etc who want to 'sell' their games interstate.

and who do we play? the lions? effectively giving them yet another home game. bah!!!

Strong clubs do not sell their own home games.

what's next..... dropping the name carlton and calling ourselves 'The Blues'???? wouldn't want to put any potential sponsors off cos they can't feel any affiliation to a Melbourne suburb called 'Carlton'.

I'm not having a go at the club either. just at you lot who think this is a marvellous idea. i think its a shit idea

the point where we have to blame grounds on whether we win or lose then we have a long way to go as a club. HOME games mean playing at home right?

There are maybe a few thousand people who go to see Carlton every week.

Now good on you it's great that you can do that every week, but the vast majority of Carlton supporters do not go week in week out.

Moving a game to the GC is not going to make a difference to the majority of supporters.

It will piss a few off and a few will actually prefer it, the club will not be worried about a member backlash about this.

Agree with this.

Nothing against Queensland or any other state in Australia but we are a Victorian club, and apparently a strong one at that. Selling games would have to call such status into question. Selling games is for the weaker Victorian clubs like Melbourne, North Melbourne and the Bulldogs. We are far bigger than those clubs. We are a powerhouse Victorian club. Hopefully this is just an attempt to extract a better stadium deal than the one we currently have.

Forget the 'home and away' concept, I'd like to see 16 games scheduled in Melbourne and 1 game scheduled in each of Perth Adelaide Tasmania Canberra Sydney Brisbane.
Structure the membership/entry conditions with different levels to suit that schedule.

There are way more than a 'few thousand' who go every week. I can probably name more! But that's not the point.

This has nothing to do with who can go and who can't. Too many in this thread are focussed on how many games they can attend, whether they live near Carrara, whether Sydney fans can get to a game. Irrelevant!

The point is this:

Selling home games is a massive admission of weakness as a football club and places one's club in the embarrasing echelons of St. Kilda, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Footscray. Humiliating! It is an admission that we're failing to succede in our own market.

It is weak! Whether you can go to the game or not!

ALL CARLTON HOME GAMES IN MELBOURNE FOREVER!!!!!!!

My guess is there would be 5000 members tops who attend every Melbourne game.

I just don't see getting a GC game as weakness.

But I don't go to every game.

I can see how someone who goes to every Melbourne game would not like it though.

.... and judging by this thread the only people who are upset are those few who attend every or very close to every Melbourne based game.
