For those of you who may not be aware, I am a big fan of the 1945 team.

Now, how is this for a comparison? A long bow, yes, but I thought it worth a mention ....

As per my signature, Carlton in 1945 lost their first three games. In 2008, Carlton lost their first three games.

After Round 14 in 1945, Carlton were 7 wins and seven losses. In 2008, after Round 14, Carlton are 7 wins and 7 losses.

Who won the GF in 1945? Yes, that's right - Carlton!

All we need now is a war, use of our home ground as the venue for the GF (hey, that's technically the MCG) and twelve teams in the comp!

Giddyup!

were going to struggle to make the 4 from here.

Im a big fan of the 1991 team, we were 7-7, then finished 8-14. Oh well I guess im just a sucker for the under-achiever.

In all seriousness (if you could believe the above wasnt sincere) I compare our side to the 1999 team. I think we are about similar standard, no one really rates us too much, but we got lucky with a few things in 1999 and made a Grand Final!

Mind you because of that, the finals system was replaced to stop sides doing what we did!

Hmmm! ... Bob Chitty ... You sorta can't do what Bob did in those days ... but he could be as colourful as Fev! Bob did a Ned Kelly movie. Fev is our bushranger, I suppose. Footy's changed so much these days, it's hard to make personality comparisons.

Matty Kruezer can be Ken Hands. First year, tall young KP type recruit.

They were a young team like the '08 team as well.

I was trying to 1945 it up.

When are those Japs ever going to pack it in?

What else was goling on in 1945, apart from a final 4 and WWII ending?

A young John Howard dreamed of recreating this period in the future years of 1996 to 2007.

He was more of a Menzies era man (50s & 60s, I know he was prime minister briefly before then).

1945 was the beginning of the Information Age, according to Wikipedia. I am disgusted there isn't a single mention of Carlton's victorious premiership team there.
