Let's put this in perspective....

While its sad to see King Richard stand aside, the main thing that must be remembered, is that he's already done what he was brought back to do...

a) Finances are back in order with a massive profit made last year, and expected again this year
b) Board and CEO issues sorted
c) Football Dept issues and short comings sorted
d) Improved on field performance

The Club is in good hands and is being run better now then at any stage since the glory days of the mid 90s...

IT'S NOT AS IF WE"VE LOST OUR BEST PLAYER, SO DESPITE WHAT OPPOSITION SUPPORTERS MIGHT THINK OR HOPE, ONFIELD AT LEAST, THIS DECISION SHOULD NOT AFFECT US ONE BIT!!

Whether he comes back as pres or not, I believe they should name the new Training Facility when it is finished after him. He started the fightback in a real sense, when the new facility is completed that will pretty much complete the comeback!

Just a thought!

Go Blues!

Nice thought, but it would be strange to see the Pratt training facility next to the Pratt stand. :)

this has probably been mentioned somewhere in this thread, but to save me the trouble of reading through it, i know it's really early for this kind of stuff to be decided on, but are we likely to go ahead with the proposed plans to upgrade our training facilities to be better than the lexus centre or is it likely that the quality of our facilities will drop??

nothing will change

is it wrong of us to expect pratt to provide a portion of the fees required to get these facilities to be the way we planned them to be while he was prez? are we sure he will continue to assist us financially? do we even need his assistance to get the facilites as good as we want them or is more to do with the council? either way, i'm still rapt with what he's done for us, no one else in the world would have done a better job but i feel these facilities are the last piece of the premiership puzzle.

its not like pratt has just lost a job - the presidency is a voluntary position - not paid

pratt has lost nothing - he wasnt in the job for the title or the glory - he was in it to fix his beloved blues

just because he doesnt have the title anymore doesnt mean he wont still be active behind the scenes

why? we have all our collingwood posting heavily scrutinised on this board ... fair enough, i don't care ...

given that mandy is a part of this community, why am i not allowed to point out her assertion that judd is a lying, mercenary money bags? that our club has a criminal connotation?

1. There's a time and a place. And this was neither.
2. It was a light hearted gag.
3. It looked to me like you were readying for a fight/personal attack.

Have to say, I got know idea what most of the non-Carlton element are going on about. If they are happy Pratt is gone, they should really be hating our current President.

Here is a man who has crushed all 15 other clubs in his time, and also ripped Victoria to shreds, and now he is in charge of the most successful club in the AFL. Kernahan has inflicted much more pain on all the other clubs supporters than Pratt ever has.

sticks would do anything for the club, heck he'd probably even line up at full forward if we needed him to!

It would be very difficult with Dick in the chair given his authority/talent leadership /commercial acumen for a successor to arise or be anointed -this will mean the club will actively need now to do some successionist planning (something that we havent been very good at ) for a replacement for Dick

Ideal replacements would be Fahour but if not him Andy Penn amd no doubt there are others

Whilst I think Swann is doing a terrific job we should also be ensuring that the club at the end of the year turn its mind to a successor for him as well in the longer term

Youll find Pratt is a huge fan off Delutis...with people like Fried to stay/.. and the inclsiuon pof alot of new blood...

Without Pratt there the board is too big .... a new president will need a cull....!!!

Now id hate to see people from within the board exercising ambition against what Dick wants....

What are you insinuating? I hate people who just say there needs to be a cull. I personally don't see a problem wiht a large board given these members VOLUNTEER their time. If you think there needs to be a cull say who you think should be culled and why.

Cos no board need 13 people... and some are useless..

And it will happen...

Not as bad as i thought the smelly sack would be, guess he'd be worried about Dick getting off and his superannuation taking a libel large hit

Dark stain at Blues disappears as king abdicates

Caroline Wilson seems to be coming around on us though. Was very happy to read this quote:
"Elliott, who was warned not to comment on Carlton matters by the club earlier this week after telling The Age he had advised Pratt to re-sign Brendan Fevola on a three-year deal, made one accurate statement yesterday — that Pratt was innocent until proven guilty."

Pratt departure saves Blues from red faces

But what does Elliott do all of Friday, go on just about every talk back station and open his stupid gob over and over again

He is just a downright embarrassment to the Carlton establishment.

Flower you one of the lowest circulating and least respected so called sporting columnists in Australia.

Your nothing but a snivelling piece of drivel - call me a toadie, call me sycophant - you miserable #$^%
Respect is shown to those who deserve it you are nothing more than a very ordinary person.

A cricketer who was a chucker who indulged in all manner of sledging and misbehaviour on the field.

As a journalist you are nothing more than an overblown over opiniated #$%^.

You have directly insulted and libelled me - and every Carlton Member it is us who should sue you - not you be defended by the gormless and scared.

There is nothing better I can think of than knowing you fell from your lofty roof at home - and can only wish that it was a damn sight more loftier than it was.

Flower off you evil smelling fertilized t$%#@.

Uh Oh....... you had to go and do it didn't you? Now everyone is going to click on that link and Mr. Smith will get what he is after: attention    I don't think anyone here needs to read that crap anyway; you could pretty much bet on exactly what he has written word for word. Same shit, different day.

DON'T BOTHER READING HIS DRIVEL!!!!

Let him think he has had his little victory so that the crushing pain of watching us flog his beloved bombers on Sunday is all the more demoralising.

I can't wait  8)

The thing that annoys me about this situation is that Amcor get off scott free.

Where is the heavy handed treatment on Amcor?
Where are the cases against Amcor's managers?

So if you dob your competitors in you get off scott free?

No punishment whatsoever? Not even a dressing down, not even a $10,000 slap on the wrist?

I am not buying any amcor products, no cans, no bottles, no anything. If I am at the supermarket and I read that a product is made by Amcor - I am not buying it.

Graeme Samuel, you are a disgrace.

You reached a settlement with Pratt and VISY, and now still go after them! That's fine, but where's the action on AMCOR, Qantas, Petrol Companies?

I'm not sure Samuel is a Carlton fan or not (someone alluded to the fact he was in another thread), but if he was, he no longer is.

This is a thread in protest at Samuel, to highlight our disgust with him, and the fact we do not want him to share in the joys that Pratt put so much effort into saving and he (as a former afl board member) did nothing. Graeme Samuel, you are a disgrace and not welcome!

The people wondering why the ACCC doesn't/can't go after other alleged cartel/collusion activity might do well to think about why they can't.

It's not just lack of taxpayer dollars, it's something else entirely.

Re Pratt's charges, think about what the ACCC have charged him with. Then think about what they have to prove in order find him guilty.

I'll leave that for you to think about.

After yet more mundane articles about Mr Pratt from that bloke at the Australian...

http://blogs.theaustralian.news.com.au/ ... disappears

And the word coming out at the moment is that it was Dicks lawyers who did not cross there t's and dot the i's.....

Dick thought this saga was over when he paid his 36 million dollar fine in November. That there was a clause for no further recourse at all. Except someone forgot to include that minor detail!

Is it time for us Carlton faithful to stand up as one for Dick? To repay him for what he has done for us and our wonderful reborn club these past 16 months?

A T-shirt, emblazoned with a motive, We love Dick

Stand up for Dick

Patrick is a pussy  Anything giving him our unreserved support. Just a thank you, letting him no that we are all still behind him 100%.

I don't know how you all feel, but being called a toadie by Patrick Smith, is a blight on us all.

What do you guys think?
