Will come in Round 17, when Carlton run onto the TD led by...

THE CHIEF

I am expecting a magnificant banner, and an INSPIRED performance against the dogs for one of the gutsiest and most determined blokes to pull on the navy blue for quite a few years...

(who would of thought the date might come where he gets his name on a locker)

I'm looking forward to round 18 when Setanta will play his 50th.............. Problem is, i think we'll be playing interstate. :-(

CANNOT WAIT to see him run onto the ground for that. Jesus i love that irish bastard!

Top notch legend this season... Boy I wish he'd been this consistent in previous years....

Well done Wiggler - you're a gem that's finally getting a bit of a sparkle....

just like everyone else here, i love the way simon goes about his footy.

now this isn't going to be popular but imo after he plays his 100th we should no longer continue to play him. i want him to get to 100 because with an olympian as his wife we could potentially pick up a father/son. i know wiggins is probably in our best 22 atm but realistically he will not be playing in our next premiership. it hurts me to say this, but i think after his 100th we should stop playing him and replace him with maybe edwards or hartlett to see out the rest of the year. if he continues to get a game, i will not be disappointed because i love watching him play but i just think playing edwards or hartlett ahead of him is in our best long term interests.

If Wiggo wasn't playing today, we wouldn't have won. End of story.

You can take all of Fev's goals, and the star quality of JUDD, GIBBS, Smurph, etc, but without the little nugget, and his goal in the last, there's no way we would have got over the line. The rest was just icing on the cake.

You could just tell when he was lining up for that 50m goal he was going to miss. I said to the people around me that he would miss because he took his time to think about it and it ruined him. He is great when he just gets straight to the point which is why he rarely makes mistakes around the ground.

Absolutely agree!

Rarely has a name on a locker been earned with so much hard work. In an age where some (most?) players care more about the dollar than the jumper, his work ethic, commitment and perseverance for the Navy Blue has been a joy to watch.

I’m staggered that anyone could want to drop him. In three of our come back wins now, right when the game was in the balance, Wiggins was the steady set of hands and the steady pair of feet that sparked the turning point. He’s the solid, dependable performer that every team needs... and a team of young guns even more so. From what I hear around the internet, in his training regimen and conduct around the club he’s also a role model for the younger players.

Yes, I’ll concede he missed a shot for goal today... but... I can name several higher profile players that missed far easier shots.

And to top it all off, one of the most genuine nice guys I’ve ever met in the footballing world.

I agree... his 100th game will be a highlight of my year.

Absolutely agree, Chief's 100th will make me cry more then anyone he knows personally and all of you. Just like Heaths 150 today did.

His miss today was nothing, he's been nailing them all year why bring that up, He used a good 5 mins of footy then when he bounced on the ball to bring that goal home after it.

Got that spin around the body kick all worked out. Maybe he has been practicing hard working on the FS rule.

When he gets to 100 he will have certainly done it the hard way and maybe even taking longer than the last Number 34, 100 game player Ron De Iulio.

For those interested, we have started to compile the list of Upcoming Milestones so they can be easily tracked:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... Milestones

The intention is that each year a full listing will be put on the site, and selection / injury permitting, it will provide a guide to additional 'MUST SEE' games for your favourite player.

If Wiggo makes it, he'll be the fourth Blue on the #34 locker:

A little extract from this weeks Play of the Week, won by Simon Wiggins:

Quote:
You have now played 95 games for the club. How important is it to you to reach that 100 game milestone?

It is important, it is very important, I want it really badly! It is a week to week thing, and it is something you always think about it. For my entire career I have always looked at the names on my locker, like Robertson, Marcou, and De Iulio, there is 100 years of history there and I want to be a part of it!

I love that, molesy  .

Most run out the same old 'take it 1 week at a time blah, blah'. It's great to hear of players busting their arses to be 100 gamers for the club :) . He deserves it and we need him.

That made me fog up a bit.
