I imagine that to have been incorrect given that it (the 3yr offer) was apparently revealed on TFS by fev (didnt see the prog).

From a post by ODN on BF
Quote:
I was annoyed with Fev on the Footy Show last night, and not just because I had to stay up until 1am to watch the bloody show. He wise cracked about wanting 10 years, said they would make a counter offer to Carlton for 6 years, joked about the Melbourne offer. Poor form and seems to be in Fev first mode.

He almost made himself untouchable at one point and we persevered with him. So many chances, so many let downs, such inconsistency.

Did anyone here actually watch the prog and want to provide an opinion on Fev/what he said about his contract?

I had one eye on it, but my father-in-law was in the middle of a long winded story and didn't want to appear rude.

What I did catch was;

1) he admitted the lunch at raheen involved discussion about his contract

[speculation commences here]

Given Stevo and Judd, the two leaders and players with the longest contracts on the list were there - I am thinking they were discussing what options they have with out of contract recruits depending on where Fev's contract sit (maybe marketing provisions etc).

[speculation ends]

2) Confirmed it was a three year offer. When pushed, said three eyars would be 'good'

3) Said he wouldn't accept a behavioural clause because that was already covered in the standard AFL clauses. Went on to say his priors were in the past and everything at Carlton is about the future.

4) Said velocity would look at it and they would respond in due course. He is sticking out of discussions and just wants to play footy.

4) All the jokes about length of contract, a Melbourne offer from Lyon etc were just that - jokes. It's the footy show FFS!

I thought he handled it pretty well, he was clearly a bit uncomfortable and wary talking about it, and wants to leave it all to Alex and Velocity.

Well done Fev.

(Actually.... maybe I was really listening to the father-in-law at all... )

Sounds about right.

He looked really p!ssed off with Aker at the start (shot him a real greasy look when Aker sat down beside him), a smart@rse when questioned and distracted most of the night.

All-round great media performance.

The Footy Show like to talk up their own.

But demoting Bradman from the greatest cricketer of all time to be replaced by one of their own - are they serious?

What a load of BS

I'm guessing you have no idea

Fev's argument that Scott Lucas 'deserved' 2 more years instead of one because he'd given 'great service' said a lot about his mindset.

I would have thought a players future worth would be estimated on what his future contributions will add to the team, not on what's happened in the past...

He did qualify it with "He's still playing better than half their list."

Interesting that this offer happens soon after the "Lunch at Raheen"....

I'm confident that it will happen. I just can't see Carlton not signing him. Far too important the club to lose and at any rate he becomes eligible for the vets list during a three year term so only half his salary counts. That obviously helps in terms of keeping our other younger "untouchable" talents who are coming out of contract.....

It also puts a rumour I heard about fev being linked with the Swans in the "highly unlikely bin" and that makes me even happier!!

I think it was something about his house. Think it may have been something to do with a fence. Might ahve to ask him tonight (in an ad break  )

That is a very good point though bluehammer.... I'll wait for juddlovesme to make the announcement on this one.
