I am on holiday in the Gold Coast and we received the game LIVE and they showed the post game proceedings. Football coverage is fantastic up here. Half the team didn't know the words of the song (boomer Harvey had no troubles).

Fev is at the peak of his career right now. You are seeing the best he can deliver. Hope we don't get sucked in and give him a Kouta contract at the end of his career.

Great effort though and great to watch and very entertaining.

there's no way we'll do that, especially given all the talk that we're only willing to ofer him a one-year contract.

the dream team defenders weren't any better. With the delivery both forwards were on the end of superman would have struggled to get a fist in.

No, what's the general concensus? 1 yr, incerntive based deal!!! :garthp:  :garthp: :garthp:  :garthp:

good, the game is out of the way, we didn't sustain any injuries and Fev reinforced the opinion that he is a star waiting for a good team to take him to the next level and for him to take his team to success. He's the man! 8)

A 5 year deal would be suicide.......Players of Judds ilk are worth a 5 year deal because you know you can rely on them, they are proven over a long period......

No defenders played well. Croad got cleaned up, Rutton got bathed, Scarlett was ok going the other way but was loose. It would have been a tough night for defenders.

Waite made a meal of that shot on goal at the start. ..... er he did lay some ripper tackles though.

Midfields were not pushing back to help defenders as it was an exhibition game.

When fev doesnt try and kick the ball too hard he is deadly accurate. Lets hope he keeps kicking straight.

Went to the game and apart from being shelled with plastic bottles courtesy of the mexican wave really enjoyed the best players doing their stuff and getting an insight into what makes them better.

Its the reading of the game and knowing when and where to go....like a game of chess the better players a couple of moves ahead...Steve Johnson is no great athlete or has any fancy skills but he times his efforts and leads better than most, Brent Harvey is another.....his man wandered off after taking a handball and lost Harvey who drifted to the other side of the ground waiting for the switch in play.....sure enough the ball came his way.....did it again when he roved a pack...he was flat out as the ball hit the pack..his man was standing still waiting...Harvey had gone.

Jarrod Waite is a good athlete but he doesnt read the game as well as the the real class players...he was led to the ball a few times and when he had easy possies didnt have the few moves ahead nous to know where to dispose of the footy....ran into trouble and sold players into trouble.

Mcleod is another who just knows where the ball will end up and where to find it...

Fev is better than most of us think....he is elite status and can mix it with the best......for a man who is better known playing the fool off the field he is no fool on it. Fev has the football nous that Waite doesnt and knows where to go and how to time his moves and even when the delivery isnt perfect he can adjust and still win the footy. Playing with quality players really suits Fev...he doesnt need to be an idiot and the influence of a player like Brown to keep his mind on the job was evident.
Fev didnt want to stuff up on the big stage and was a credit to himself and the carlton footy club.....if he played in a real class team with other class forwards he would kick 100 goals a season with no problems.
I can see why Bradshaw is so successful playing behind Brown...

Judd tried hard but isnt fit....doesnt appear free in his movements and only a quality player like Judd could still be effective despite those restrictions....

Saw Campbell Brown pull out of contests twice........didnt want any part of Richo in a contest and was obviously playing for survival only....

Really good game and I'm all for state of origin......players like Murphy , Gibbs etc would really learn plenty playing with the best going around.
Waite will be a better player after that game and hoepfully will get to elite status like Judd has been and Fev now is.....

..fev's having a blinder of a season, he got a couple of great passes but at other times his delivery was very average.. ..i was also really pleased with his contested/pack marking.. ..brilliant effort, and definately the presence that won it for the vics..

I felt overrall the game was a big farce. The players where not fair dinkum (insert Judd) and certaintly did not intend to go hard. Can't blame them really. Another example was the Brown/McLeod clash.
Do't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game but it's hard to accept it if you know the players, coaches and more importantly administrators, of all clubs aren't 110% behind it.

QFT - anyone having a go at Waite, would be hard pressed to find another defender who played well.

Nobody wanted to get hurt, so they didn't apply themselves to it - its that simple.

Waite is as good as he is ever going to get. We need to live with that
