Blueman, love your stuff.

BUT.

I remember last year you were predicting that 2008 would be a year out of the box like none we had ever expected. I could bring up the posts there were dozens of them.

It could be me, but I believe that your assessment, above, of blueman's prognostications is your interpretation of what he said, and your putting a year to the predictions, rather than him doing it. I don't remember blueman saying anything specifically about 2008.

Would be nice, though......

Great year to make the finals.

The 5-12 sides will be fairly even and anyone of them can do it. I think we've put ousrselves behind the eight ball by losing to Ess. and Rich....but hey.

Point is...whovever makes the finals will be expected to get flogged by the top 4 .

No better lesson for a young group to experience the finals , not be expcetd to win, but be exposed to what's required to be a top 4 team.

Fingers crossed I say!
Maybe not so much top 4 but top 2........Geelong and Hawthorn, especially the Hawks this year. Geelong scratching a bit and run into typical mid-year, premiership hangover territory soon. Either way, they're both along way above the rest at this point.

If we lose to Fremantle on Saturday then this thread should die.

I hope we smash Fremantle in a % boosting win that keeps our dream alive.

We have the next 4 games at the G - Collingwood, Essendon*, Richmond, Saints. You think we can win all four, but were a young side who still struggles with inconsistency, so were bound to drop one or two of those.

Then we have a very tough run home:

Bulldogs, Kangas, Swans, Hawks at the Dome are very tough.
Port at the Dome is winnable.
Away trips to Brisbane and Adelaide are going to be tough.

We need to win another 7 at least to make the 8, I cant see us winning more than 4 or 5. But 8-10 wins is a much better season than the past and a great buliding block for next year

It looks like 8th position will go to either ourselves, the Kangaroos or the Saints. The Kangaroos are currently 2pts ahead of us and the Saints.

The remaining games are as follows:

Carlton: Collingwood (A), Essendon* (H), Richmond (A), St Kilda (H), Sydney (H), West Bulldogs (A), Adelaide (A), Port Adelaide (H), Kangaroos (H), Brisbane (A), Hawthorn (H)

Saints: Sydney (A), Freo (H), Kangaroos (A), Carlton (A), Hawthorn (H), West Coast (A), Port Adelaide (H), Collingwood (A), Fremantle (A), Adelaide (H), Essendon* (A)

Kangaroos: Fremantle (A), Hawthorn (A), St Kilda (H), Port Adelaide (A), Collingwood (H), Melbourne (A), Brisbane (H), Western Bulldogs (H), Carlton (A), Geelong (A), Port Adelaide (H)

At least we play Kanga's and saints again. Winning those games will be like 8 point victories in the scheme of things (as we get 4 points and deprive of those teams above us of 4 points, kind of like Port was this week).

If we can get over the pies and dons, plus pick up a surprise along the way then we might just make the 8. Would be great to see as I think that we started the season below full fitness which hopefully means we will be at full strength come the business end of the season.

People are kidding themselves if they think we will make finals. We had to many poor performers again last night, glossed over by a great last quarter.

You are kidding yourself if you think people aren't excited about the fact we are still are chance for the 8th position.

we'll give it a shake whether we get in the eight or not - 2008 will go down as a massive turning point for the club.

i feel we are two quality players short of a top 4 side one being the CHF position and possibly the ruck.

I reckon we'll come home far stronger than we've begun. Definitely a chance of 7th or 8th.

Put Walker, Houlihan, Hadley and Jammo/Bower in and we're going to really give teams the shits.

We've played 1 good quarter in 6. We have only beaten Collingwood above us on the table and have to win probably 8 of our last 11 to slip into 8th.

We still have Roos, Swans, Lions, Hawks, Pies, Bulldogs, Crows and Saints to come.

We aren't good enough to make finals this year.
