Please dont merge this - i had the best day ever yesterday and hopefully this will give you all an insight into how sensational yesterday was and how much it meant to so many die hards over here.

THE PUB

Jumped on the train at 1.30pm to get into Subi to meet up with a whole heap of other blues supporters at JB O'reillys irish pub.

This should have taken about 30 minutes to get to, I got there at 3pm :garthp:

You think i would have looked up the address of the pub huh? nope i walked along cambridge street in the direction i thought the pub was in and stopped and thought - nope cant be this way ive gone too far, so i turned around and walked the other way - nope WAY TO FAR ! - rang call connect and got put through to the pub

IT WAS ABOUT 30 seconds FROM WHERE I TURNED AROUND IN THE FIRST PLACE - i just spent an hour walking up and down the street like an idiot - copping abuse for being decked out in Carlton gear - hopefully this wasn't a sign of things to come for the rest of the day

Got into the pub - had missed lunch but got stuck straight into the beers with the crew ( oops i hadn't eaten today - big deal )

Met up with a whole heap of bigfooty people and they were quite cool ( yeah i know ! ) and i couldnt be more thankful to a couple of special ones who are on the commitee of the WA Blues who got me into the ..............

BANNER SQUAD !! - thats right - grrofunger held up the banner on the ground !!

...........to be continued.................

THE BANNER - Part 1

Around 5pm and several beers in - its time to take some of the guys from melbourne (bigfooty) to go and pick up their tickets.

I leave the pub with them ( dissapointed the sexy squad didnt make an appearance ) and made the 10 minute trek to subi to get their tickets.

We got their tickets alot quicker than expected so hung around the officials/player entrance to the ground for the rest of the banner squad to come.

We were standing next to the bus the players had come in ( just missed them arriving i think ) and who should walk past but the great man - GREG SWANN - "g'day swanny" a quick nod and smile and he dissapears off into the ground

Absolutely brilliant milling around the ground all decked out giving it to the weagles supporters

The rest of the banner squad arrive we get a breifing and then its into the ground..........................

There'd better be some horizontal dancing (possibly with triplets) coming up or you're gonna have some explaining to do... :P

THE BANNER - Part 2

So we work our way into the ground and walk towards the carlton rooms and Nick Naitanui walks out and past us with a couple of his mates - "you'll look great in a carlton jumper next year Nick" he looked at us and smiled - "yeah guys" he was so embarrased we all knew who he was.

A quick peer into the rooms and the boys are in their doing final preps - we dont go in - but it was nice to peer in

we head up the race next to players race and wait for the all clear to get on the ground

I felt like an excited 11 year old and i couldnt have been happier carrying the banner onto the ground to a fair few boos - haha we were hated - so cool !!

we unrolled the banner but had to leave it there and all sit down as the clowns over here release a live eagle at the game and flies down from the stand and lands on a ball in the centre square - pretty cool - this live flower eagle swooping down right next to us.

The boys appear at the race , and i actually got nervous thinking shit i hope i dont rip this thing or knock it over ( apparently last year some of the people let go of the poles after the boys ran through and almost knocked some of them out )

"We could rub it in but we're better than that" was the message on the banner and the boys exploded out and through

stevo and cloke ran around it right next to me and i gave it a go blues - nick looked like a man possessed - clokey gave a quick glance - stevo actually looked quite fit too.

the banner was done and we then carried off to the players race.

oh yeah the umpired walked past us as we were preparing the banner - we all wished them a good game :garthp:

Once the banner was done we got to stand on the ground next to the goals as the boys were doing their final preps and taking shots - i got to handball a few back and nailed a perfect hanball to waitey who was calling for it like i meant something - man that was awesome ( yep theres that excited 11 year old kid again )

We then got the hurry up but got to walk along boundary right to the other end of the ground to our seats -

the grass was shit - the surface was horrible and uneven and very soft.

walking along that boundary was phenomenal and the boos and jeers we got were awesome - we all gave it the go blues and the go juddy - only to get more boos

there were a lot of pockets of blues fans oo which was great to see.

i got a few phone calls from people at work who were there telling me to get of the ground - they couldnt believe i was there - stupid eagles fans -

I loved every second of that walk and soaked up the atmosphere which was electric

oh yeah also bumped into bruce mcavaney and nathan buckley - gave them the old go blues too - bruce laughed like only he can.

Up to the seats now with more jeers from the ferals

That 30 minutes was gonna be very hard to top

..........to be contunued .....

THE GAME

Front row behind the goals was different for me - not the best view but sensational for atmosphere and involvement with the game.

gee setanta is a massive unit and loves the hitting and so does jamo and they get stuck into it - awesome stuff

the game progresses , you know how it goes

I thought carrazzo was phenomenal - his workrate is something that cant be appreciated on TV - he ran and ran and ran and ran - its no wonder he rack up touches - he is the guy who constantly works to present an option
great game and BOG for me.

Scotland also was great and works a lot harder than i have given him credit for in the past.

The eagles crowd were a disgrace - boo juddy , boo your a judas , boo boo boo - pathetic - the best was "he is overrated anyway - we dont need him" :P   boo boo boo boo

contrasted to ours who 98% of cheered josh (although it hurt as he dragged them back in) and there were a few "we still love you joshy"s heard throughout the night.

Fev is fev and he bleeds navy blue , that hit was stupid but flower me if he isnt an inspiration and he had very limited opportunities in the second half - he was great and he kept turning to us and jeering us on and revving us up ad was eddie betts

eddie is a little legend - turning to the eagles crowd and pulling on the CFC insignia on the jersery- running into us with the "W" signal - reving us up to sing the song - awesome stuff.

To be able to belt out the song halfway through the last quarter to deafening silence from the sooky eagles was simply awesome - i hope you all heard it - my wife reckons she heard it on tv

hey WE FLOWERING WON !!!!!!!!

grown men were crying - kids were crying - strangers were hugging - this was like winning a grand final for us WA folk - we have been through so much shit at subi over the years ( hey we've all been through shit i know ) to rub this in to the eagles and to rejoice in our win was breathtaking.

To top it all off the boys all came running to where we were sitting and gave the high fives and hugs and dripped all their dirty sweat over everyone - again eddie led this - he is so enthusiastic.

The march around subiaco in the hour after the game was awesome - lily of laguna could have been heard in the next suburb - as all the sooks moped home.

The rest of the night was spent in subi - downing more and more beers and rejoicing in the win with kindred folk

the drought at subi had been broken in a big way - we dominated , then we were challenged ( i was beginning to think i was a curse on the club ) - then we rose and rammed their shitty heads into the ground to run away with a big interstate win.

MY FIRST EVER WIN LIVE AND WHAT A WAY TO EXPERIENCE IT !!!!!!!!

im so hung over and happy right now

i have photos of it all and will get them up - maybe after a nap.

if anyone has any questions feel free to ask - i will try and remember everything and answer best i can

GO YOU BLUES _ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
