can't believe so many people have written us right off already after 2 games.

we lost to an up and running richmond and up until tonight a very good stkilda team. we were far from disgraced and played some good footy in parts. When we beat Essendon* tomorrow we'll all see what the boys are capable of and unlike previous seasons and with a dude called Judd leading the troops the confidence will quickly grow, a win the following week against the pies and the football media will stand to attention. that's right at 2-2 and with dees ahead of us to make it 3-2 the F word will come into vogue.

as Bob Dylan said " the times they are a changen"

we actually lost a pathetic Richmond and a pretty average StKilda...

Tonight is very important.
If we cant play with any function we will really struggle this season and we would be throwing huge money to Worsfold at end of season i reckon....

All i want as a pattern of play....

Hopefully its not a case of the more things change the more things stay the same...

Sinners, I know you only want what's best for the club, but I really think we can only accurately assess our coaching after the halfway point of this season.

By Swann's own admission, Ratten has coached this club for two AFL games. Swann has said that he doesn't count last season when assessing Ratten (make of that what you will, but I think the inference is pretty clear).

Ratts may or may not make it, we can't possibly know yet. That's why he was given 2 years, not 3. But what I'm looking for is signs of improvement in the TEAM (not individuals) in the second half of the season.

Until then, I think it's premature to be planting the Ratts out/Worsfold in seed.

The bigger issue for me is whether or not our entire coaching and development set-up is good enough yet. Are we planning to replicate or better the Port Adelaide 'academy'? Or Collingwood's successful development? Do the Bullants work well enough? Can playing coaches really work? And, yes, does Ratts have the attributes?

Way too early to be pointing the finger at Ratts, in my opinion.

Although, having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing Mark Williams at Princes Park

me thinks Ratts is there as a development coach then will make way for a Mark Williams, Roos or as Synbad said Worsfold

Development coach or not.... if come the end of round 5 we dont at least have 1 win on the board ( next 3 games Essendon*, Collingwood and Melbourne ) then Ratts is really up against it.
Seriously to me too much handball isnt the way to go about it, and it looks like thats how Ratts wants to play. We dont run hard enough in order for that quick handball game to work.
I think we might get up Vs Essendon* tonight ( must play Waite forward ) and surely we can beat the Dees??
2 & 3 after 5 rounds ill take that

Forget Roos. Never happen.

As a hypothetical only assuming Ratts doesn't come off (I think he will) - I would be rapt with Williams or Worsfold. Williams is a flower but his record speaks for itself.

His record's pretty ordinary. And he's an arrogant flower. Don't want him anywhere near our club.

It hasn't been a handball game plan.

In 2 games we have 450 kicks and 218 handballs. More than twice as many kicks than handballs, we are probably the only team in the AFL doing this.

Our opponenents in those two games have had 392 kicks and 341 handballs. Much closer to the AFL ratio.

We are kicking more now than we did under the Pagan game plan!

finally, someone with some common sense.

its got me stuffed why Ratten is given such shit after two games.

we played a fully fit Richmond, and a near fully fit St Kilda.

for patches of both games, we had them on the run ... it seems commen sense to me, that the initial parts of our game, we do them well and that is what we should be implementing for 4 quarters.

currently we cant do that, and that is why we have lost two games.

im pretty confident we are heading in the right direction, we need to increase our fitness levels, but when we play they way i think we can we are as good if not better than any of the sides we have played to date and several more that we havent.

we are a side that needs time, and we are still young.

forget what other mugs say, our starting 22 would be younger, by miles than any other side in the comp.

but back onto ratten

Just as Knights isnt the saviour of Essendon* after 1 win, nor is Ratten useless after 2 loses.

Hell, to me, it seems the only ones that make an issue about Ratten is Carlton people.
