How does a football club allow a player to get into that state? I know he missed a few games in the pre season but he did not leave the club on Saturday in good condition and then wake up on Sunday with an extra 5 kilos on him.
I don't like to pre judge but IF this is self inflicted then he should have been sent to the Bullants until he got to an acceptable weight. Being injured as justification for being overweight is not the message the club needs to be sending to any player on our list.
Just as a side issue the navy blue jumper hides the weight alot better compared to the white jumper.

Very good points in here.
Lets take it one step further. Carlton have brought into the club supposedly one of the best high performance coaches available. Also other staff to support this area. The club also moved forward with Swann and Icke ( reported to be hard heads when it came to discipline). A new coach in Brett Ratten, reported to have gendered a new respect from the group. Well how can Stevens be allowed to prance around the club in his current condition. It just smacks a little of the Smorgan era all over again. Very Very Depressing

Yeah. Quality comedy that..... *yawn*

It takes a really smart group people to start poking fun at something AFTER it's been pointed out to them by the media.

I was at the game. I think the Saints fans comments have been picked up by the media, not vice versa.

hey, garth p, can you talk to someone over at saintsational about the status of my life ban?

i mean, all i said was harvey was overrated. i dont think the penalty fits the crime at all...i mean, if you were to say to me "stephen kernahan was overrated" id simply laugh at you and not worry about your ridiculous opinion...which isnt to say my initial statement isnt true.

but c'mon, i was having a lovely discussion with a guy who used to be a trainer or something at the club when my uncle was down there. and then my banning cut it short.

I had four prolapsed discs in my neck two years ago and I am amazed he is even playing. I will not do anything that involves stressing my neck, such as tennis, vacuuming, ironing and I still have restricted work conditions. Stevens was probably on cortisone which really keeps weight on for months afterwards. I wouldn't blame him for not going into packs, the pain he would have been through is indescribable.

What is funny is that it's a saintsational thread that got past one page.

Not sure if you guys remember, but i was slammed and nearly banned from Talking Carlton due to me having my opinion on Neck Stevens. He doesnt put his head over the footy and he is a weak footballer. Everyone here is quick to call Houlihan weak, and get up Carrots etc, but for whatever reason people think Stevens is some sort of gun.
He is unprofessional and i cant believe people were considering putting him captain...
Everyone slapped my man Slim Shady ( Whitnall ) for being over weight, and rightly so, but just be fair and slap this clown. At least Whitnall had a dodgy knee... this bloke has no reason to be unfit as he has been training fully since December 2007.
I love the Blues and i want Neck to prove me wrong,... but at the moment Murphy and Gibbs are putting in more than him.
Pull the finger out Neck!
