sorry people, i thought the club was interested in 'people management' and getting the best out of their resources. If you can't see that the club have a role to play in developing people as well as footballers then ...

They do take these kids away from their families in many cases, and often at the impressionable age of 17 and then place them in an 'institution' of sorts. They indeed have a duty of care!

You make it sound as though being at a football club is like being in the army. Under lock and key and surrounded by barbed wire fences.

And Fev isn't a 17 year old kid. He's nearly 30 years old, and has been at the club for 10 years. He shouldn't need anymore help. The "these guys are impressionable and don't know right from wrong" holds no water here.

I have no interest in the army and made no comment about fences so that is your baggage/imagination that you are commenting on there. Football clubs are an institution - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work that out.

I never said Fev is 17, but he has been under the clubs tutelage since he was that age. If they knew he had a 'problem' with alcohol at any stage - or even if they were the slightest bit concerned that he did - they have a responsibity to offer him some support in this area.

It could be argued that the club have let Fev down as much as he has let them down ... yet he is the only one whose tenure is subject to termination.

We're not bagging Fev the footballer... cause he's a gun.

We're bagging Fev the person/team mate.... cause he's a selfish idiot.

MUST trade him before we are backed into a corner and either lose him for nothing or are forced to sack him for another indiscretion.

Guys, Fev needs some Help. He needs Serious Help. He needs out support.

The problem that faces Brendan is a lot serious that i ever thought. He is an addict and his addiction will not last him the year unless something Dramatic had to be done.

The line has been Drawn, hence the Club has to try to help the guy with his alcohol issues or it will lose him and all his talent.

maybe Brendan should visit a church and turn to the Savior of the World-Jesus Christ. i reckon he is just about the only person left that can save him

I've never bagged him... ever... He is an absolute gun and I love him as a player. But fact is, we will be better off for the next 10 years getting two high draft picks instead of getting nothing after we have to sack him for his next indiscretion.

hysteria

i can't believe the @#$%&! hoo haa over all of this. perspective

steve johnson gets suspended from the club for 6 weeks, comes back has a great year wins the norm smith and the decision is hailed as the greatest ever football decision of all time.

6 weeks later he gets done at over twice the legal speed limit.

slap on the wrist. the media say what a silly boy but geez what a great decision to suspend him for 6 weeks last year... he won the norm smith medal.

fev pisses on a window and the football world, and most prominently his own supporters want him drawn and quartered. anything less is not enough

after all he pissed on a window.

has anyone ever heard of someone getting killed from the act of pissing on a window?

now, anyone happen to have the statistics handy for speed related deaths and injuries? even more so, fatalities where incidents have occurred with a vehicle doing twice the legal speed limit.

but its ok, he won a norm smith medal.

How other clubs deal with their players should have no affect on how Carlton acts.

couldn't agree more camel.

fev stuffed up... again.

its annoying and we don't need it 3 days before the first bounce.

it just really frustrates me that the whole football world (media and supporters alike) are baying for his blood when you compare the incidents and the reaction from the same people.

Steve Johnson wasn't suspended for being in the lockup ... he was suspended for not informing the club at the time. They found out about the incident much much later and suspended him.

OK, time for bed kids. Nothing to see here.

Let's all turn off our computers and read a book. Or make love to our wives. Or do our homework. Or get drunk and call a friend you haven't seen in awhile. Or go for a jog. Get a life.

The incident was regretable, but NOT the biggest disaster in the history of civilisation. Fev flowered up (again), and people who are much better qualified than all of us made a decision to deal with it in the best way they saw fit. Those people have earned our trust and I am confident that the decision they have made will, while paying due regard to the personal welfare of Fev, ultimately prove to be in the best interests of the Carlton Football Club (in fact, the two probably go hand in hand).

Life goes on, the season starts on Thursday. Move on. Get excited :-D

And this is why the employment lives of footballers shouldn't be compared with the employment lives of "normal" people. Incidents like this extract passionate responses from passionate supporters. As with a lot of the stuff that gets posted on here, generally common sense lies somewhere in the middle ground of opposing opinions.

Even though we all have differing views on how best to achieve what we want for the club, ultimately, we all want what is best for the club.

Whether Fevola's latest unsavoury incident was a big deal or not in the eyes of some supporters is largely irrelevant. The fact is Fev's actions caused embarrassment to our club. Throw in Libba's comments, and, in a week where we should all be salivating at the prospect of Judd making his debut in Carlton colours (among many other positives), we're busy dealing with unnecessary controversy about our club and having the administration putting out spot fires that should never have started.

The point is pissing on a shop window is inexcusable.

There's more to add to that, but really, now that the club has dealt with it, I agree, it's best to move on.

Not to worry - come Thursday the Carlton Football Club will be pissing on their opponents.

At least fev has admitted to havin a problem, and is now gettin some help, the question i ask was why wasnt this help with alcohol provided earlier. Fev is a lot smarter than people think and just because the tv persona he has ppl think his not that bright which in fact he is.

If he's so smart why hasn't he recognised he has a problem and sought help for it before now?

ok enough is enough

un-named Geelong player, with drinking priors, barreling down the road without a care for the consequences of his hoonish behaviour (worst case he kills an innocent person) Penalty: Sweet fa cos he won a flag and was bog and is now an "example" (apparently all is excused if you win a flag)

Fev has a piss, gets aggro about not being able to finish it and ffs, lock him up and throw away the key.
