For the majority of my life I have been a Carlton Social Club member, this year though I have decided to go with an AFL membership. My query is; would I be counted in the official membership tally for Carlton?

I have often wondered about why I should pay more to belong to a club than the AFL charges .. but in the end I decided that the club needs my money more than I do (this was in 2002) ... but apart from that, I would like to know the benefits of being with the AFL and not the club ....

yes you are counted as an official member and the club receives a fair portion of your membership cost also.

Yes as an AFL Member you count in the Carlton membership tally - the AFL call it a Club Support package.
You have to tick a box and write in Carlton as your club on the application.
$120 of an AFL Adult membership goes to Carlton.
There is a Membership section on the AFL Website - this link might help you to get some quick info

thanks alot for the info, wasn't entirely sure and was a little worried I may miss out on what looms to be a record membership year for us.

I gave up my AFL membership in the early 90s when I decided I was getting dudded on access to Finals. At the same time I realized that I didn't have a voice as an AFL member.

At least as a CFC member I get to vote if I want to and I don't mind paying a bit more to benefit the club.

AFL members have voting rights with the CFC.
