Kruzer starting lineup for sure

Cloke and Ackland should never get a game in a good side.

Hampson/Aiske should always be ruck till Kruzer takes over the ruck.

Surely to see Kruzer as a forward first half of the year

Another in the gauntlet of exciting young midfield prospects that could very easily be forgotten with the 2008 group. I see potential for him as a tagger.

I think you'll find he's number 23 in a lot of poster's efforts.

One of the toughest decisions here is where to play Jared Waite. I would love him to continue playing up forward but it seems we need him at CHB until someone else can step up to that position?

Only left Ryan Jackson out because he is still on the rookie list otherwise i would've put him in probably on the bench.

I also would've probably put A. Ohailpin in instead of cloke if he wasnt on the rookie list

Agreed, i think they will play kreuzer in the forward line for 1st half of season or so which will allow us to play Waite at centre half back

and i also agree on giving hampson and a. o'hailpin chances instead of having ackland and cloke in the side

Jackson O'hAilpin Jamieson
Scotland Waite Thornton
Gibbs Judd Simpson
Fisher Hartlett Walker
Houlihan Fevola Cloke
Hampson Stevens Murphy
Kreuzer, Carrazzo, Hadley, Bower

My thoughs
Ruck; Hampson, Cloke, Kreuzer, O'hAilpin

Tall defender; O'hAilpin, Jamieson, Thornton, Waite, Cloke, Hartlett, Bower, Walker

Tall forward; Fevola, Fisher, Hartlett, Waite, O'hAilpin, Cloke, Kreuzer

Midfield; Judd, Stevens, Murphy, Simpson, Gibbs, Carrazzo, Hadley, Jackson, Scotland, Houlihan, Walker

This gives us options beyond belief compared to 2 years ago. This is where the game is heading. !! players able to rotate through the middle is fantastic.

Some may disagree with the players but i'm sure this is the mix

That backline doesnt have enough dash. I reckon we need to get Walker ,Anderson,Gibbs or Simpson back in there somehow.
Half back is an onballer these days. If the opposition try to take one of them out of the game by running where the ball isnt or taking players back to the square then we just rotate the next through.
THe backline stated above would do well in the late 90's.

What a pleasure to have so much more to work with.....

Anderson, O'Hailpin S, Thornton
Walker, Waite, Scotland
Stevens, Carrazzo, Simpson
Gibbs, Hartlett, Houlihan
Betts, Fevola, Fisher

O'Hailpin, A
Judd
Murphy

Inter - Hadley, Cloke, Bower, Jackson

Jamo just misses. Hammer may tip out Cloke later in the yr. Harts gets first crack at CHF. Rucks still a lottery but Ackland not on the radar.

Run out of the backline, mobile talls across the park, ball magnets through the middle. Looking good. I counted 13 midfielders in this lot and we still have Grigg and Kreuzer to unleash.

Blackwell, Russell and Bentick are in trouble, which is the way it should be.

Cant see why you would have Bower and Jamison on the ground ahead of walker. Your backline doesnt have enough dash.

Swap Walker with Bower.

So many options.

A lot? He's in my best 22. We need a quality tagger. Jackson showed he could run with Harvey all day - a player with one of the best motor's in the league. Anderson could play this role, but he'll possibly be down back, or still developing.

I see Russell as capable in that role.

Carrots and Simmo are defensively capable also (not advocating for them to be taggers mind you).

Tough exercise. Makes you realise how good we are!

Ruck and CHB aren't easy but Cloke got it based on his efforts last year and fitness in preseason and becuase I'll be flowered if I'm going to put Ackland in any team of mine ... I'll have Cloke any day, backed up by Hammer and Kreuzer.

Best 24 (NAB Cup)

B: Armfield Jamison Thornton
HB: Browne S. O'hAilpin Walker
C: Scotland Carrazzo Gibbs
HF: Houlihan Waite Murphy
F: Fisher Fevola Simpson
R: A. O'hAilpin Judd Stevens

Int: Hadley Jackson Hampson Russell Krezuer Cloke

Pros:
- Back six are all capable as disciplined defenders as well as providing run and rebound, removing the opponent's ability to manipulate defensive match-ups to target a particular player's opponent (ala Scotland, Houla, etc). The chemistry side of it will take a while to develop though.

- More balanced height wise, at least at either end of the ground

- Simmo and Murphy only fitting in at half-forward

- Can run rotations through the forward line as well as the bench for ruckmen & mids.

- Fantastic marking power up forward

- Our HF flankers are exceptional at hitting leads, especially Fevs

- Tall, strong, physical midfield set up, with traditional positions held by blokes who know how to find the footy

- Very solid level of disposal, especially considering Ratten's focus on possession footy, and thus the reluctance to take a long kick as first option

Cons:
- Inexperienced ruck division, potential is there however and opportunity for anyone of four players to take reigns from Ackland (fingers crossed)

- Defense still has the potential to be overpowered by some of the more physical teams of the competition, however a couple of pre-seasons will iron this out

- Lacks a specialist small forward, however many of the midfield rotation are proven goal kickers

- Can Russell be the utility to allow Walker to push into the midfield? Could well be the guy we turn to to fill a hole on the field

- Which Waite Will We Get? (tm)

- Lack traditional wingmen; run and carry would ideally be provided by Simpson and Walker, however Scotland & Gibbs are intelligent users of the ball and long kicks

- Murphy doesn't fit the mould of the traditional flanker, which could mean the ball might not come through his side of the 50 much as he pushes into the corridor to play to his strengths. This would require Gibbs to push up which places Walker in a precarious position if he chooses to push forward (can always flip around the line up a bit)

- Will we rotate frequently enough for Hadley to be a worthwhile bench player? Where does he fit otherwise?

That's because he's not in the team just yet... and he'll be on the rookie list. ;)

Fixed.
