i was just pondering a few things when it dawned upon me and i started thinking more about it , JUST how big Is the Carlton Football Club ? it was stated recently that we were the most underperfoming brand in the AFL and our support base although showing signs of slowly declining in the last decade is still some 750,000 strong (nationally) , Has carlton ever REALLY had a chance to show there "true Drawing and Advertising Potential " my point being going back to 90's and 2000/2001 when we were playing finals and a "heavyweight" of the competition carlton v's collingwood would attract regulation crowds of 85,000 , carlton and Essendon* 70,000 and as high as 90,000 (2000) richmond carlton high 60,000 and as high as 80,000 i can even recall carlton and north drawing 68,000 to a home and away game . but in all those years we were based at optus oval and would play many high drawing teams at optus (richmond even ) , since carlton has been a fulltime tenant of the dome and the MCG we have not managed to win more than 4 games in a season ... 4 GAMES yet our membership has climbed to 35,000 (on the back of 5 awful seasons) our crowds have still managed to reach the 70,000's against collingwood and 60,000 + (ess and richmond) and we broke an attendance record against HAWTHORN at the telstra dome .. with chris Judd and a return to finals football (sooner rather than later) JUST how big will the CARLTON FOOTBALL CLUB brand be when we are week in week out playing Blockbuster games at the telstra dome and the MCG , we all know what happened to collingwood and Essendon* (a club that had an average membership of 8,000 pre MCG) , Just Maybe CARLTON (which is yet to Flexx its true MUSCLE) is on the verge of claming the prized mantle piece of NUMBER 1 club in victoria and FREE to AIR must haves AGAIN . its yet to Happen , in a real sense ITS never even had a chance to Happen as we have never really been succesful on field post OPTUS OVAL , so maybe just maybe i can hear the sound of turnstiles clicking in OVERTIME , its not only the sound of a sleeping giant awakening , ITS ALSO the sound of the SLEEPING giant reaching its FULL potential ...

I think we're about as big as that paragraph. Maybe.

Lack of paragraphs and punctuation/spelling gives me hives. And epilepsy.

Screw the AFL. Turnstiles = $$$s for teh AFL. Would rather 50k members than 50k+ attendance.

Judd = higher membership #s.

And the Hawthorn record breaking TD match was the worst match I attended last year, possibly ever. No wonder the numbers dropped after that insipid performance.

:(

Nah, Caroline Wilson just gives me the shits. :-D

Carlton has and will continue to play the likes of Coll/Ess/Rich at the McG - and will always draw upwards of 60k no matter what position either team is in. (night matches aside)...

...hopefully we will continue to draw teams like StK/North/Hawthorn at TD, and will always post crowds over 35-40k.

She doesn't do a lot for me either but at least she limits her paragraphs to about 30 words.

She only chooses 30 words to match her IQ - it's a quirk she has.

I really hope all the positive vibes translate to success on the field

In 2005 we got Marc Murphy .. we won three (or was it four) in 2006
In 2006 we got Bryce Gibbs .. we won four (again) in 2007
In 2007 we got Chris Judd ..

Obviously not big enough for Jason Mcartney.......will be knocking back the Blues job and staying an AFL man....look for Jason to heading to the Gold Coast Roos...

No big deal about the paragraph. I hope you don't use Big Footy and use mozilla because using paragraphs don't work, until you allow Scripts, but you don't find out till later.

It's no big deal to me, i can read what you trying to point out and who likes to spend a hour rearranging every word in a forum, there isn't that much time in a day.

It's like you said, when you talk you just keep talking a bit like instant messaging.People don't spend all day fixing mistakes, you not getting paid to write for the Sunday Herald News.

Trust me, i used to take ages just replying to my friends on messenger, just typing full words, when they were are talking from another planet saying Lol,omg or any acronym and wondering what they meant.

Ha Ha, i just found out what ROFL meant, not long ago,i thought they were a dog, barking.

Of course, it was staring at me all the time, the ROFL. How could it be anything else but the ROFL, yes, yes, yes the ROFL.

Just one question - What is the ROFL??

Hey Grumpy, it was in reference to your mate from Spotless:

I understand where you are coming from. However if you want people to appreciate what you have written, help them to do that by taking the time to have it in a form that can be appreciated.

How big are we????

MASSIVE!!!!!

Ps i also hear Hiundai are looking at re establishing a relationship with the club as well...
A few MASSIVE announcements waiting on the wings... the biggest of course is which number will Judd wear... and who will be captain!!!

and oh... some MASSIVE sponsorship deals coming our way....

PS... i love the Irish football drain.. not good for their game but judging by how the Irish kids are jumping at it.. its a great opportunity for them and for us..

We should have to give them a few grand as compo i reckon....

That should be part of anything. The GAA clubs should get something for their loss... some of the clubs are tiny .
